" THE THEATRE OF ETERNAL MUSIC / DREAM HOUSE 78'17 "
Shandar was a French record label active in the 1970's, specialised in Avantgarde music. Shandar released several significant early minimalism recordings, free jazz excursions, and musical experiments. The label was founded by the Maeght Foundation, a private art gallery in Saint-Paul de Vence, France, owned by art collectors Aimé and Marguerite Maeght.
Some of the records were issued with a few label color variations. The 10.000 series seem to be the first pressing: There were two logo designs, the "disc" and the "vertical" logo, shown at the top of the page. Starting from 1971/72, the serial number changed to the 83500 series, with reissue of previous records, eventually in different format and slight difference in the design. The most impressive (and sought-after) early minimalism records (LaMonte Young and Charlemagne Palestine above all) have been released with this second serial number only.

M - = Platte wenig gespielt - wie neu. Cover nahezu wie neu. / Record and cover in top condition.
EX = Platte weist leichte Fremdgeräusche auf, Cover hat minimale Gebrauchsspuren. / Record has light surface marks, cover shows minimal wear.
VG = Platte ist häufiger gespielt worden, aber der Zustand ist ok, Fremdgeräusche aufgrund von Haarkratzern kommen vor. Cover hat abgestoßene Ecken, Ringwear, Seam-Split o.ä. Dieser Zustand ist für die meisten Sammler zufriedenstellend! / Record was played more often, but the condition is ok, background-noises due to hairlines, no serious defects, cover has slight wear at the edges/corners, ringwear, seam-split or something else . This is definitely a condition wherewith the most collectors be satisfied.
VG - = Häufige Fremdgeräusche, aber keine Springer oder Hänger. Cover deutlich abgenutzt / Record has often background-noises, but no jumps, cover shows stronger wear.
+/- = Die Kürzel Plus oder Minus werden an eine der oberstehenden Qualitätsstufen angehängt, wenn sich die Platte (oder das Cover) keiner der Qualitätsstufen eindeutig zuordnen lässt.
