ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This beautiful and rare LP from Disque-Club du Nouveau Siècle, the French imprint of MK · Mezhdurodnaya Kniga (D.C.N.S. 806, thick Soviet pressing, red/gold label, mono – no stereo edition exists) features the great Leonid Kogan in an awe-inspiring rendition of Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D Major Op. 61, recorded in Moscow in 1958 with conductor Kirill Kondrashin and the USSR State Symphony Orchestra. There are at least five other extant versions of Kogan in this work, but this early Soviet account boasts a frisson and sense of occasion that set it apart from those later performances. Kogan plays Joachim's cadenzas.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is near-MINT. There is slight bumping/wear at corners, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, or owners' markings and the whole remains extremely solid, bright, glossy (with a very rich lustre) and attractive – overall, a superb collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. The surfaces are not always CD silent, but in general the playback is superb – overall, a fine collector's copy.
