Description

Otto Klemperer/ The Philharmonia Orchestra
Elisabeth Schwarzkopf (Soprano)

Mahler: Symphony No. 4

(Columbia SAX 2441 UK LP 1962)

This is a UK Stereo 1st pressing LP in great overall condition! It has a heavyweight front laminated flipback sleeve which has a large sized "Stereo" on the front. It has its original polythene-lined generic "EMI" company inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has turquoise blue & silver "Columbia" labels. It has 1st press YAX 760-2 and YAX 761-8 matrix numbers.

This is a genuine UK 1st pressing of this early 1960's UK Stereo Classical LP. In great overall condition too. I have some other rare & collectable 1950's & 1960's Classical UK Stereo 1st pressing LP's for sale too. Including several other "Klemperer" LP's. So please see my other listings. Don't miss out!

Sleeve: There is a very small 1 cm area of more moderate rubbing wear on the bottom corner tip at the sleeve opening. There is a very small 1 cm crease & more moderate rubbing wear at the top opening corner tip. There is some light, very mild or very minor foxing on the rear sleeve. This is not too noticeable. There is some light, mild or very mild rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges on some areas. This is not that noticeable. There is a very minor 0.3 cm hairline scratch mark near the top of the spine. Otherwise, the spine is in great overall condition. There is some light, very mild or very minor ringwear on a few areas. Not too far from being in Near Excellent condition. Overall, Very Good++ condition.

Vinyl: The vinyl looks to be near unplayed! It still gleams like new! There are a very few light, very mild or very minor sleeve rubs which can barely be seen under a strong light. A strong EXCELLENT+ condition.  The labels are in Near Mint condition and show next to no spindle wear. The company inner sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear & creasing. There is more moderate fading. There are no seam splits.

I have play tested this LP in its entirety & it plays Excellent to Excellent+ overall, and Near Perfect to Perfect in some places. A superb audio copy!

    >>  Grading Information All grading is very strict & adheres to 'Record Collector' specifications. However, I have fine tuned them & they are explained below. All vinyl is examined closely under a strong light & play tested.

MINT Condition = A perfect copy! Almost impossible to find like this.

NEAR MINT Condition = Very nearly mint just slightly under, There may be a very few, very light paper surface sleeve rubs that can hardly be seen under strong light. This disc has been played a couple of times at most. The sleeve is virtually perfect - there is very minimal wear only.

EXCELLENT Condition = A clean & tidy copy that shows minimal defects. There will be light, very mild or very minor surface sleeve rubs. There will be no scratches. The cover will be very nice & clean with maybe minimal creasing, ringwear or edge rubbing wear etc...

NEAR EXCELLENT Condition = You can tell this record has been played a few times, but it has been well cared for. There will be minor surface marks only. The sleeve may have light, mild or very mild creasing, ringwear & very mild rubbing wear to the edges etc.... Overall, it will be a very serviceable copy that you will be pleased with.

Very Good Condition = A well played but very decent overall copy. There will be a few marks on the vinyl, but they won't be nasty scratches, just relatively light needle scuffs and sleeve removal marks, they will be noticeable but won't detract from play too much. Cover will show signs of storage/ ageing, e.g., creasing, slight folding, spinewear, ringwear or sticker tears etc... The record will not be trashed!!

AN INVOICE WILL BE SENT TO YOU VERY SOON AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS. PLEASE WAIT FOR THIS BEFORE PAYING.

DISCOUNT WILL BE GIVEN ON POSTAGE FOR MULTIPLE ITEMS.

All records will be sent in high quality packaging.  All records will be extremely carefully & securely packaged to ensure safe arrival to you. The dispatch time will generally be between 1-3 days after payment.

I always remove the inner/ LP from the sleeve & place them, with the sleeve, in a polythene outer sleeve. This will prevent seam splits to the sleeve during the shipping process. I often remove the vinyl from the original inner sleeve & place it in a separate plain paper, or polythene-lined, inner sleeve. I am very conscientious and careful when packaging your records.

If you are uncertain about any of the above, or just simply want some information regarding any item, please do not hesitate to contact me. I welcome any questions.

Remember to check out My Other Items Lots of rare & quality vinyl! Most are UK 1st Pressings. It is quite likely that there will be more records by this artist, or records in a similar vein.
