Description
Kiss - Rock and Roll Over (1977, "Blue Tear" Club Pressing, Vinyl) VG++.
Up for bidding is a copy of the rare "Blue Tear" club pressing of Kiss' Rock and Roll. The "blue tear" at Paul's eyelid was the result of a printing error and was unintentional. Record is in vg++ condition with some light signs of playback. Plays nicely. Sleeve shows some moderate wear to edges from shelving and has a tear to sleeve in top right corner (see photos and ask questions!). Overall, a nice copy of a rare find. This submission is for the 1977 RCA record club edition which features the 'blue tear' ink spot on front cover mis-print. It can be found near the Starchild's left eye. (see picture)Misprint is exclusive to this specific pressing.

I e-mailed Michael Doret a few pictures of the album in 2010 to ask him if there was any story/significance behind it-his reply is below-I posted a portion of this before on the FAQ a few years ago, but couldn't find the link-so I just pasted it in:
"First of all I can tell you that what you have in that photo is an inferior printing of the cover because there should be an impression of silver ink in certain areas, and I can see that one of those areas that appears in your photo (Paul's eyelid) is printed in black halftone instead. So the first clue is that the printing was clearly done on the cheap.
As far as those controversial "tears" are concerned, I'm sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but what you're looking at is just a flaw in the printing. There must have been something on the blue printing plate (perhaps some dried ink or whatever) to have caused that anomaly. I've seen similar printing mistakes many, many times. If someone had actually intended to draw tears, they could not have done a worse job than that! They don't look like anything other than what I said—a flaw in the printing. They just happened to have appeared in a spot that allowed people who wanted to see something, to see what they wanted. Remember the whole brouhaha with the Beatles and the whole "Paul is dead" nonsense? This is the same thing. Utter nonsense. But I'm sure my saying this will not persuade anyone to the contrary, if they still want to believe!"
