I am not a professional vinyl grader. I do lightly clean the records.
I listen to every record | sell from beginning to end.
I go by this grading scale -
M - Mint - New records only.
NM - Near Mint - No surface noise, no significant flaws on the cover, inner sleeve, inserts or spine.
EX - Excellent - Minimal surface noise heard mostly between songs, very minor flaws on cover, inner sleeve, inserts or spine. I use EX because I believe VG++ is dumb
VG+ - Very Good+ Surface noise is minimal to average, a few tics here and there. Very listenable record. Cover shows wear and minor ring rash. The average used record.
VG - Very Good - Surface noise is heard throughout but record is still listenable. A few scratches and tics but no skips. Cover and spine show a lot of wear but are still intact.
G - Good - Surface noise is loud and annoying. Album cover shows heavy ring wear, has a cut out or is just very worn.
F - Fair - Cover is crap or vinyl is just scratchy with skips.
