Kirsty MacColl ‘Rare SIGNED Copy’ EP

A New England ©1984 Stiff Records.

CBTV Stickers Included.

BACKGROUND TO AUTOGRAPH

If you’re reading this, then most likely you know who Kirsty MacColl is already. A British singer and songwriter. She recorded several pop hits in the 1980s and 1990s. Whose life ended tragically in 2000.

The autograph was obtained in person at a TV interview of Kirsty MacColl. The interview was filmed at Teddington Studios, UK in the 1980’s The programme was called CBTV. CBTV was a Thames TV magazine programme for younger viewers, in the 1980s. I was part of the panel of kids interviewing her.

I’ve tried to research the date of the programme I was in and I believe the episode was in Series 3 (6th September 1983 - 10th July 1984) . I know we were told that ‘A New England’ was a new song which was about to be or had just been released. Steve Lillywhite was also at the studio. I was only 11 years old at the tine and the items on offer were what I received at the time.

ON OFFER

The autographed EP by Kirsty MacColl and stickers from the show

RECORD

The record itself has never been played. I took it to a store who considered there’s nothing wrong with it and it just needed a dust.

SLEEVE

I’ve had this record in my possession for 38 years and the sleeve has sustained some damage from wear and tear which I have taken pictures off. The damages is more creases on the corners and the indentation of the record in to the sleeve.

AUTOGRAPH

The actual autograph from Kirsty MacColl is still in remarkable superb condition. There are no creases or marks anywhere near it.

STICKERS

Not removed off sheet. Discoloured over time . They have been sitting in the inside of the record sleeve. These were specific stickers given to the kids who appeared on the show.

I don’t really know too much about records, so I’ve tried to describe this item the best I can. I’m auctioning this off mainly because of the autograph. In the hope that someone out there wants to preserve this bit of British music history.
