THE KINKS - 'THE VILLAGE GREEN PRESERVATION SOCIETY'
*NEAR MINT* UK 1968 1st *STEREO PRESSING LP
My listings this week include some gems which were amongst an extremely well looked after classical collection I recently acquired. All were played just once or twice at most on high-end equipment & stored in ideal smoke-free conditions for over 40 years.
This pristine copy from the above collection is on the pale blue & black PYE STEREO label: NSPL.18233
Housed in a front laminated inner-flipback mono cover with the 'STEREO NSPL' sticker applied in the rear upper right corner of the rear panel.
Complete with its original plain white 'UK Patent No.1,072,844' poly-lined inner-sleeve.
Matrix numbers: NSPL 18233A-3 & NSPL 18233B-4
Stamper numbers: C/1 & C/1
Disc weight: 165g
CONDITION
Disc
Labels: NEAR MINT
A beautiful clean & untarnished set with just two faint spindle trails to each centre hole.
Visual: NEAR MINT
This pristine copy came from an extremely well looked after collection of mainly classical discs and appears here in virtually the same condition as it left the shops 41 years ago.
Both surfaces are 'MINT' and totally unmarked on strong daylight with not a single scuff, mark or scratch anywhere to be seen.
Careful examination beneath my halogen desk lamp reveals with nothing more than sparkling rainbow gloss shine & a few barely visible inner-sleeve removal wispy hairlines - but that all.
A really heavy pressing on quality virgin vinyl which lies 100% flat on the turntable with no signs of dishing or warping.
This will not require upgrading.
Play: NEAR MINT
This amazing sounding copy has received just one or two careful plays on top-quality equipment and sounds 'as new' throughout.
All tracks play perfectly cleanly & clearly with no background noise or groovewear distortion - even on the innermost tracks.
The only audible blemish uncovered by my single playcheck at volume were 3 light 'pops' at the end of 'Do You Remember Walter', caused by a tiny pinhead sized bump in the vinyl itself.
Both run-ins and all bands play silently without any ticks, click or other unwanted distractions.
I guarantee that you will not be disappointed with this fabulous copy.
Cover
EXCELLENT
An extremely respectable example of this fragile cover which has been carefully & correctly stored since purchase in a non-smoking environment.
The delicate front leaf is clean, glossy & flat and displays just a few small 'thumbnail' wrinkles and some lamimate lifting towards the spine.
There is a hint of light wear to the edges but no tears or 'feathering' and all corners are all clean and unbumped.
The rear panel is just as smart but has small tears (which you can just see) near the right corners measuring 1 & 2 cms.
Inside the gatefold is immaculate with no marks, writing or missing paper to either panel.
Difficult to find better.
Inner-sleeve
EXCELLENT
Clean & white with just a single light crease to one corner and the inevitable light disc impression but otherwise this is 'as new'.
- Strict & grading under strong daylight & directly beneath a halogen desk lamp based on UK 'RECORD COLLECTOR' standards.
- I carefully play every record I sell on a $5,000 Rega P9 turntable at volume and list all visual and audible faults.
- All the photos in this listing have been taken by myself and are of the actual items for sale.
- All records are professionally & securely in custom-made record mailing boxes with the disc removed from the cover.
- Please take a look at my About Me page for more details.
