Description
Kinks - Something Else LP NPL 18193 (Pye, U.K., 1967)
Original UK Mono Release. Garrod & Lofthouse ' Patents Pending' Sleeve. A/B 1 * M matrices (with 2nd matrix crossed out in side 2). Original plain inner with shop sticker attached.
From "David Watts" to "Waterloo Sunset" , this is arguably the finest Kinks album - which by default, makes it one of the greatest albums, ever.
Condition (I Grade NM / EX / VG+ / VG / VG- / G / F)
Sleeve - (CONDITION) VG+ Solid, if slightly tired. There is ringwear on front and rear. Several long creases to front. Sleeve opening frayed. Slight tear in top flipback. Wear to edges and corners, but no splits or handwriting. The spine has some wear, but the text has been spared.
Record - (CONDITION) VG The record has seen lots of play, as evident by a lot of spindlewear on both sides of the label. The playing surface has quite a few scratches and marks or the intermittent kind, and there's still quite a lot of shine. But when you play the thing, it sounds brilliant - loud, forceful mono sound. On that front, I'd certainly grade it higher than VG. There is not much crackle at all - and it's mostly only noticeable in the quietest sections and gaps in between songs. Some of the scratches click (most noticeably during Love Me Till The Sun Shines / Lazy Old Sun), but the music often drowns them out. There is a touch of raspiness here and there - but there's very little deterioration in the sound at all. Nothing close to a heart-stopping clicks, pop,skip or a jump. Lots of spindlewear (and a small stain), less on side 2 of the label
Who wants this? Any Kinks fan after an original mono copy of this LP should give this a look. Collectors might prefer to wait for
higher condition copies - but they are probably going to cost hundreds. This one shows a bit of wear, but is a fantastic player.
