This 2017 US pressing from Metal Blade Records is now OOP, not sure how limited a pressing it was but I guess just one print run was done. I purchased this copy myself back in 2017 so am the original owner.
Condition of the gatefold is really excellent, no seam splits, crushed/dented corners or creasing. There is just the slightest of indents on the rear across the band photo (as pictured). Very clean condition. The records originally only came with plain white inners which have been kept but I have added poly-lined sleeves for better protection of the records.
The records themselves I have graded as Very Good. Reason being is that these were unfortunately pressed at United Records Pressing, which is by far the worst plant in the world as far as I'm concerned (even worse than Rainbo or GZ). I'm not sure what they use for compound, etc but their records are usually badly scuffed, full of pimples and scratches and usually are full of non-fill.
This copy here has some scuffing across the surfaces but luckily not too bad. The labels have some lines/cracks near the spindle holes. The run-outs also have these weird swirly marks/scratches which I've never seen before on an LP. So how does it sound??
Somehow, the records play very well. Both are near flat and all 4 sides play cleanly with only minor surface noise/ticks/clicks. The only real issue is that all 4 run-outs sound very scratchy and have these weird rotational sounds but I could only hear this once the run-out starts and not during the music. I did hear some minor sibilance in a few places but nothing terrible. Cranked, this sounds really clear and clean during all songs. Way better than the records look.
This has been played twice since purchase on a fully set-up Notts Analogue deck and Linn Adikt Cart and has been cleaned on a Pro-Ject RCM with The Right One fluid.
