Description

Here is an ultra rare 1933 test pressing record of music from the motion picture classic "King Kong!" This is a one-sided 10" 78 rpm disc on Victor Records that features background music from the film. This example is titled "Paradise 1", as handwritten on the white label. There is a matrix number machine stamped in the dead wax area, 68460. The reverse has "Victor" pressed into the shellac. I found this record along with several others that came from the estate of a sound engineer for RKO Pictures, the company that produced the film. Since there was no actual soundtrack recording released at the time this is most probably a one of a kind record. The music is orchestration. The condition of this nearly 80 year old disc in remarkably clean. There are some blemishes but no major scratches. The label has a small stain. This is an amazing find!
