King Crimson - Lizard ( 1970 Island pink-rim palm tree original pressing . Fully laminated gatefold cover. ILPS9141 ). Now here's something a bit special ..... This fragile complex third offering by King Crimson has only been PLAYED ONCE !..... it was the property of a record reviewer from the time and he reliably informs me that it was played once for review purposes then filed away in a sealed PVC cover and locked up for 43 years !.. Frankly it looks and feels like it was pressed and made last week. Beautiful FULLY laminated cover ( outside and inside gatefold ) still creaks when you open it. Fantastic intricate artwork gleams like new. No stains rubbing or writing whatsoever. Proper folded over closed gatefold edge. Only tiny corner creasing from storage. Lovely crisp clean opening edges. No thumb handling marks or traces. Proud straight fully readable spine. Incredible condition . Can't be many like this left at this late day. NEAR MINT. Iconic Island labels show practically no sign of use at all. Vibrant colours. If you look closely at the labels they have a different typeface from each other Side1/Side 2 so perhaps this truly is a " one off " item?. NEAR MINT. Medium weight vinyl lies flat and true on the platter. Jaw dropping " like new " gleam on the playing surfaces. The disc really is quite literally AS NEW !. only tiny traces of sleeve removal seen under microscopic spotlight ( which I believe you would get with any vinyl even brand new ). Stunning audio. Loud dynamic cut , wonderful frequency ranges from the original master tape. This is sonically a very challenging album with lots of quiet passages and also dynamic loudness. It plays beautifully with almost NO dust pops or clicks. Probably the finest copy of this prog masterpiece that I've ever had. Disc is also NEAR MINT. Don't miss this one !..
