Vinyl Condition:  Good - I HAVE A LOT TO SAY HERE, SO PLEASE BARE WITH ME... YOU WILL WANT TO KNOW ALL THIS INFORMATION BEFORE BIDDING!!!  This record has a lot of scratches and scuffs on both sides.  It was in a discard bin when I found it.  I cleaned it up and repaired the cover, and here's how it stands now... again, there is lots of scratches and scuffs on here... however, I have played both sides of this record twice and it does NOT skip or hang.  The first test was done on a Califone 1620 regular tonearm turntable.  The second test was on a Realistic LAB 2100 linear-tracking turntable.  There is popping and background noise from the scuffs and scratches, but strangely enough, it is not over-powering and the music and vocals come through pretty good... much better than I was expecting.  Again, there are no skips or hangs on either side.  Each side has 8 tracks.  Noise is more evident on tracks 1 thru 4.  By the time the fifth track on each side starts, the noise becomes minimal.  Track 1 on Side 1 has the most scratches.  If any track was going to skip, this would have been the one, but it played through fine on my turntables.

Label Condition:  Very Good - Clean label; no writing, stickers or tears.  Some paper wear around the spindle hole but nothing major.  All print on the label can be read.

Inner Sleeve Condition:  Very Good - Plain white paper sleeve.

Cover Condition:  Good  - Cover has been cleaned and repaired as best as I could.  Top and bottom seams were completely open.  I have carefully sealed them back with "magic" transparent tape and they look good (in my humble opinion).  The left spine was not split and has not been taped.  While the cover still has a glossiness to it, it has very noticeable wear as you can see from the photo.  Some of this was caused by my cleaning, but believe me, it was worth it as it looks much better now than it did then.  The back side of the cover has some wear as well, but all print is readable, as well as the other King albums that are pictured on the back.

Comments:  READ THIS!!!  Both sides test played on a Califone 1620 turntable and a Realistic LAB-2100 Linear-Tracking turntable.  No skips or hangs on either of my turntables.  Please note here that the needles on both turntables have been recently replaced, so they are still pretty much new.  This is one of two very important factors for playing scratched records.  The first is cleanliness.  Scratched records need to be thoroughly cleaned to remove dust and other particles from the scratches that can cause a needle to skip.  I cleaned this record several times to get as much dirt as I could out of the grooves.  The second factor is needle condition.  A newer needle will usually track a scratched groove much better than a worn needle as it will actually make more contact further down into the groove, which provides better tracking and better sound as most scratches are usually in the upper parts of the grooves.  The more contact with the groove, the better.  Because of the scratches that are on this record, I cannot guarantee that this record will not skip on your turntable.  That will depend on the condition of your stylus (needle), and the tracking force of your tonearm.  The Califone 1620 does not have adjustable tracking or adjustable anti-skate control.  It is all preset from the factory.  This is a good indication that this record will work well on most turntables that also do not have tracking controls.  However, because I can not guarantee how this record will function on your turntable, I am selling it AS IS.  I usually will not put a record up for bid that has this many scratches.  However, this record is highly collectible and if it were in near-mint condition, it would have a book value of at least a thousand dollars for the 1961 pressing.  This copy is nowhere near mint condtion, but for collectors, it may be used as a "filler" until a better copy is found.

Insurance:  If the US Post Office loses or mangles your item in the mail, there's not too much I can do about it... unless you purchase the optional insurance that is usually available.  So if you want to ensure that you get your purchase amount back in case the Post Office mangles your item, or loses your item, please purchase the shipping insurance.  I try to be fair, but I cannot be held responsible for mishaps through the US Postal Service.  For an extra $1.35, you can ensure that if your purchase gets lost or mangled in shipment, you can get your money back for what you paid for the item as well as the shipping costs.  Just use good judgement here.  If you only paid a dollar for the item, then paying an extra $1.35 for insurance is not a wise thing to do.  But if you paid 10, 20, 25 dollars or more for the item, then you may want to purchase the shipping insurance.  If the bid amount for this record reaches $50 or more, I will pay for the insurance myself.

Additional Tirade About Money Orders (Please Read This):  If you are going to pay with a money order, I prefer United States Postal Service Money Orders over any other brand, for the simple fact that I can cash them at any post office.  I have found out that Western Union agents are NOT under any obligation to cash Western Union money orders.   It is up to the receiver to find someone to cash them, or deposit them in a checking account.  I find this highly inconvenient.  I am not saying that I won't accept other brands of money orders, but I am saying that I would very much prefer the USPS brand.  Thanks.

Relisting Policy:  Be advised that, in most cases, I will no longer relist any records on eBay if they do not sell the first time around.  I generally list my records on eBay at below book value.  I used to relist non-selling records at WAY BELOW book value, and then they would sell quickly.  It became apparent that many buyers were waiting for me to do that, knowing that I would lower the price.  Well... it doesn't happen anymore.  If my records do not sell on eBay the first time around, they are then listed on my GEMM online record store; usually at near or FULL BOOK VALUE.  Sorry.
