KINESPHERE – All Around You Original Hardwick Productions /Kinesphere LP * KIN 5001 (UK, Stereo, 1976)
Happy to present this very scarce folk LP, recorded in December ’75 and featuring some superb atmospheric male/female harmonies and great arrangements. Released on the micro Hardwick Productions label out of Chapel-en-le Frith, Derbyshire, UK. Another overlooked folk gem from the mid 70s! This copy is in tremendous condition (both sleeve and vinyl).
I picked this up many years ago knowing it was valuable but never played it until recently, mainly to check its condition. Now I have not been a big folk fan in the past and rarely made it past a couple of songs on Mike Harding's radio 2 programme (now Mark Radcliffe) but I have to say that I listened and enjoyed the whole album (on a new hi spec t/t). Unlike most albums I found I liked every track so I can now see why it is sought after. Anyway, that's all subjective so back to the description.
The single format, front laminated sleeve was printed in England by West Brothers Ltd and is a good example. There are a few soft creases (please study photos)which is about right for signs of use/age. There are NO splits, writing, the front laminate has a lovely shine to it. The orange rear panel is still nice and vibrant. ( Grades a VG+).
The original blue labels are just perfect. No signs of use really. No writing, stickers, tears or scrapes and only one spindle mark. Looks like these rare labels are almost untouched. Tremendous!
The solid medium-heavy weight vinyl is in the shape you’d expect if you brought this home from the shop today. NO marks that I can make out. Fabulous shine. No embedded dirt. Visually grades M- (Mint Minus). IT HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO THROUGHOUT and plays brilliantly. So that’s no snap, crackle or pops, no repeated clicks, hiss, distortion or loss of clarity. Maybe a touch of dust static here and there but I didn’t even pick up any soft ticks. Really clean listen.
Very rare UK folk in splendid shape.
