With the interest in Kate at the moment I thought that it would be a good time to list some of the records I have. The Kick Inside is an album that is on my iPod and as such I thought it would be nice to listen to the vinyl version for enjoyment and to give an accurate grading of one of Kate’s best albums, don’t get me wrong Aerial is sublime,  and The Hounds of Love is inspirational but to think of a young singer song writer whose performance of wuthering heights was both admired and ridiculed at the same time and then managed to produce such and incredible piece of work in this and so many albums after is incredible.
In the spirit of honesty my interest in Kate’s music did not really kick in until 1985 when Cloudbusting appeared on top of the pops, I went to the virgin mega store at Tottenham court road and bought the hounds of love and the back catalogue. From that moment on I have been a keen follower of her work and delighted that she has wowed the ordinances once again with her work in her own unique style.
Back to the album in question it is hard for me not to enjoy it at any level but this vinyl does perform well, there are some static splashes and background noise in places which are noticeable during the quiet parts of the record but certainly nothing that would ruin the sound of this warm and engaging album.
The man with the child in his eyes with its orchestra backing is nothing short of a masterpieces which then moves effortlessly into Wuthering Heights, the sound quality again is superb but there are some static noises, I have no doubt if you have a professional record cleaner 99.9% of these splashes will be gone, if this is not the case you have a full money back guarantee but after listing to this record I am confident that you will be happy.
There certainly seems to be more warmth and depth to the sound compared to the digital version and if you have a more up to date digital remix of this album you will certainly notice that the soul has been removed from the sound. Feel it from side two backs this up with incredible Piano and vocals.
Visually the vinyl is in near mint condition with hardly any evidence of being played and the label would also suggest that there has been a number of plays and what is always a good sign after playing a record that has a few minor background signs is the sigh of some debris on the vinyl, this is despite a clean with a slightly damp soft cloth which means that the needle and brought out some age related dust in the grooves, the more of this that comes out the better the sound.
The sleeves is laminated both sides and has a few handling related creases on the front cover near the spine, the spine itself is intact and all the lettering is clear and unbroken. I have seen better condition sleeves but this still grades easily between excellent and near mint.
The inner sleeve is the original EMI release and is in near mint condition with no seam splits.
