Description
Absolutely mega rare original and withdrawn 1986 Canadian pressing of Kate Bush's blockbuster album Hounds of Love, manufactured under licence from EMI America by Capitol Records. There are very few copies of these around according to various internet sources becuause as beautiful as they are, the sound quality was not deemed to be good enough for a commercial pressing and they were withdrawn pretty soon after they were released.
I have owned this copy since 1990 and I was given it by a DJ. The disc itself was unplayed but the cover had aged and was showing signs of wear even back then as he never kept it in a sleeve (silly). It has been in a plastic cover since I have owned it. The condition of the cover is the only reason I have not put this on a buy it now for substantially more money, it is that rare.
Condition:
Cover: Good Condition. There is edge wear rubbing and indentations on all 4 corners and edges, some cracking and the start of a split seam at the top of the cover. There are also some marks on the back cover (see photos). The spine is unsplit. The aesthetic blemishes do not detract from the wonderful cover art especially in a high quality plastic sleeve (provided). With a light eraser, much of the wear to the jacket would probably disappear. See Photos. The cover is basically worn but in good condition.
Inner Sleeve. Extremely thin paper stock so there is some slight creasing and an impression of the disc had already imprinted onto the paper (it really is that thin and probably another reason it was withdrawn). As with most vintage LPs from this period, this resulted in splits on the sides. This copy has split on one side (see photo) and started at the bottom but the disc has not been kept in the sleeve since 1990. I would be surprised if any copies of this did not have splits to the inner sleeves.
The Disc: Excellent condition. Disc has only been played twice since I have owned it (25 years) and the previous oner did not play it at all. It plays through but please note: the album was recalled because its sound quality and sonics were not deemed good enough at that time. Its sound quality is akin to a picture disc but it is excellent, near factory condition. It plays right through.
A very, very rare LP and gorgeous to look at. In mint condition these go for much, much more so potentially a bargain!
I will send recorded delivery in the UK.
