You are about to behold the largest orchestra, ever, of Loge Olympique, with ten double basses, four each of the woodwinds, some 40 violins…and you are astounded.

Even more so when the Board of Directors gives you your first foreign commission…"You will write six symphonies, yes?" they ask.

And here they are: Symphonies 82-87, the Paris Symphonies, in the hands of Karajan with his Berlin, on sealed German pressings.
