Description

KLF LOVE TRANCE / WHAT TIME IS LOVE  KLF 006T (12inch white label test pressing)

KLF LOVE TRANCE / WHAT TIME IS LOVE  KLF 006T (12inch white label test pressing)

This is a white labelled copy (? test pressing), and as such does not come with the picture sleeve.

Since this is a test pressing the information contained on the record is extremely limited.

Identification is made using the matrix id in the run out groove

Side 1 – KLF006T –A

Side 2 – KLF006T -B

Side 1 also has the initials NR or possibly NA in the matrix run out.

I have played the record once to confirm its identity, and although I am not familiar with the track “love Trance” as a guide it starts off with the words “Penetration in seven minutes” and shortly after that a Japanese lady announces “ladies and gentlemen the KLF have left the building”.  I do know “What time is love” and can confirm that a remix of this song is indeed on the side 2 of the record.

Record

Excellent. Played ONLY once to confirm its identity. White Labels clean, no writing, no stickers. Slight warped plays perfectly.

The original buyer believed this  to be a counterfeit.

Although he did supply me with the following information:

“The small "na" in the run out groove, confirms that this is one of those pressings (i.e. a counterfeit / bootleg). The original pressing had "DAMONT" in the run out. He went on to suggest that only 10 copies of the counterfeit /bootleg were produced and date from around 2003".

To supplement this information I contacted another KLF collector who kindly supplied me with this information, which relates to the standard ultra rare stock copy (of which there are between 3 – 20 copies in existence). “Although yours is a white label and my copy depict a 'labelled-up' copy, the pressing should be exactly the same, but the catalogue numbers appear to have different handwriting, and on your copy quotes 'KLF006T-A-'  instead of 'KLF-006-T-A1'. The B side on the original quotes 'KLF-006-T-B1'. While  yours say 'KLF006T-B-' instead .  On my stock copy, a scratched out 'ADRENALIN' can be seen (the name of the KLF pressing plant) to the left of the 'KLF' etching. There are also some scratched out initals to the right of the 'A1' and 'B1'. The catalogue number is also closer to the centre of the record than in your two photos.  You got a good price for your copy and I hope the winning bidder is happy. I know some KLF collectors will pay this sort of price even if not original because the both tracks are extremely rare on vinyl, regardless of authenticity. There are also very few bootleg pressings known to exist so even these are considered a collectable rarity.”

It can be seen that these two sources do seem to contradict each other somewhat although they do refer to two different copies, an original stock copy and a test pressing.

Furthermore additional information on this record can be found, at http://www.discogs.com/release/151629.

Any additional information supplied to me I will happily place on this page, though the ebay “ask the seller a question feature”.
