Here are two records that were released in the same one year period.
The rock was heavy, melodic, influenced by classic 70's hard rock and late 60's bubblegum.
Eventually, it took over the world in the form of bands like Nirvana & the Melvins.
And for the ones who didn't exactly take over the world, they could still show their love for it by playing songs by the bands who did!  One of the earliest "tribute" concept records, and a limited edition 7" record from the next year featuring more KISS and a masterpiece by CHEAP TRICK!
We put both of these records together because
A) Uh, they both feature KISS covers
B) They're from the same one year period
C) CHEMICAL PEOPLE play on both
D) They're both hard-to-find, but neither one of them is perfect, so we're putting them together in one low-priced auction and giving you the chance of a lunchtime to grab them both for ten bucks!  Good luck!


1.  KISS tribute vinyl LP
    " Hard To Believe "
This has apparently become a rather difficult-to-find record, depending on the time of day, direction of the wind, etc.
It's an amazing tribute, one of the earlier ones.  I loved the "tribute" thing conceptually, & was even in a band on a pretty good one, but it got out of hand, and it seemed like every other week there was another "tribute" to a great band filled with sh*tty 4th-rate versions that should never have seen the outside of a studio!

waaaay before the tribute album concept was completely worn out.
1990 was the year.
NIRVANA had not yet taken over the world.  They had their 1st LP "Bleach" on Sub Pop, but they wouldn't put out Nevermind until 1991, so only those of us "in the know" were really excited to see that the f*ckin' Melvins and Nirvana and those guys who were almost ALL of the Descendents, etc. were doin' KISS songs!

This is one of the first pressing copies that an employee bought from our own store stock!  The vinyl looks VG+ and the cover is in the same category.  Minor dings & a 1 inch seam split on the top.
Still a handsome and very playable record.

This is such a cool thing to add to this auction.  Especially for a KISS fan.  But if you're here because you love CHEMICAL PEOPLE, it's probably even better!  You're getting TWO records that are out of print featuring Chemical People covering KISS!  Throw in a Cheap Trick cover and lots more KISS covers by Melvins, Nirvana, All, Coffin Break, Skin Yard, Hard-Ons, Bullet LaVolta and it's heaven.

Minor edge wear and dings.  The top edge of the cover has seen a lot of fingers flipping past it, so it has some bends and a couple of 1/2 inch tears.  Also, there's a price sticker on the bottom right hand side.  You should be able to remove it, but we don't do that because if anyone's going to hurt your record, it's you.  The way we look at it, both of these records usually sell for way more than the $9.99 starting bid, so even at VG/VG+ as opposed to near mint, you're still getting an amazing deal if you score them for anywhere near the opening bid price.

GRADING STANDARDS from GOLDMINE

VERY GOOD PLUS / EXCELLENT:
Most collectors, especially those who want to play their records, will be happy with a VG+ record,

VG+ records may show some slight signs of wear, including light scuffs or very light scratches that do not affect the listening experience. Slight warps that don’t affect the sound are OK. Minor signs of handling are OK, too, such as telltale marks around the center hole, so long as repeated playing has not misshapen the hole. There may be some very light ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable.

VG+ Covers should have only minor wear. A VG+ cover might have some very minor seam wear or a split (less than one inch long) at the bottom, the most vulnerable locataion.

VERY GOOD:
Many of the imperfections found on a VG+ Record are more obvious on a VG record. That said, VG records — which usually sell for no more than 25 percent of a an NM record — are among the biggest bargains in record collecting, because moost of the “big money” goes for more perfect copies. For many listeners, a VG record or sleeve will be worth the money.

VG records have more obvious flaws than their counterparts in better shape. They lack most of the original gloss found on factory-fresh records. Groove wear is evident on sight, as are light scratches deep enough to feel with a fingernail.

When played, a VG record has surface noise, and some scratches may be audible, especially in soft passages and during a song’s intro and ending. But the noise won’t overpower the music otherwise. Minor writing, tape or a sticker can detract from the label. Many collectors who have jukeboxes will use VG records in them and not think twice. They remain a fine listening experience, just not the same as if it were in better shape.

VG covers will have many signs on human handling. Ring wear in the middle or along the edges of the cover, where the edge of a record would reside, is obvious; it may appear on all three sides, thought it won’t be obvious upon looking. Someone might have written on it or stamped a price tag on it, too.

GOOD/VERY GOOD MINUS:
Good does not mean bad! The record still plays through without skipping, so it can serve as filler until something better comes along. But it has significant surface noicse and groove wear. The label is worn and exhibits significant ring wear, heavy writing or obvious damage caused by tring to remove tape or stickers and failing miserably.

 WE NEVER REMOVE VINYL FROM ITS SLEEVE AND LEAN IT AGAINST ANYTHING
nor do we
REMOVE THE VINYL RECORDS FROM THEIR SLEEVES & LAY THEM DOWN ON A SURFACE TO DISPLAY THEM.
We're rather amazed when we take the care that we do with the vinyl we sell, and then see another seller make more money selling the exact same item
in worse shape, and their picture shows the record out of its cover and out of its sleeve lying on a surface!  I believe the "problem" is that we try to describe every item
in detail so that you'll know exactly what you're getting.  Many sellers will simply say "excellent" "mint" or "great", having no idea what those terms mean in relation to the Goldmine Grading System.  We tell you exactly what you're getting, and even if it's been to hell and back, we still treat it like it's a piece of your mother.  Sometimes it's the detail that screws things up, I think.  If we were vague, like most sellers, you'd just see the name of the band, the title, and a picture, and you'd buy it.  Oh well.

Many sellers seem to have a disregard for the items they're selling and only care about making their pictures look pretty.  We only care about the pieces we sell.  And you.  So you'll see that the records are displayed IN THEIR ORIGINAL SLEEVES, with just a hint of the vinyl showing so that you can see what color they are.  If you want to see the vinyl pulled from its sleeve and resting on a dusty surface, look at someone else's auction or blog and then come back to our page and buy our copy in PERFECT SHAPE.
