Description

KISS - ALIVE! GENUINE 1977 UK Press on Casablanca/PYE Records - Mega Rare Red Vinyl Double LP in great condition.

• 1977 UK Press on Casablanca/PYE - CALD 5001

• No Barcode

• Matrix/Runout: CALD 5001-1 A/B/C/D 10MB

• Genuine 1977 Version - not one of the newer marble-vinyl unofficial re-issues (which are still very nice...just not vintage like this one ????)

Condition:

  • Please read and remember this is a 40 year old vintage item ???? pics and grading are honest so please look.
  • Graded VERY CRITICALLY under VERY bright spotlight + test play. Pics show item under bright spotlights.
  • Cleaned very carefully by hand using high grade cleaning fluid (L'arc du Son), distilled water and suitable cleaning cloths.

Vinyl Surfaces - Sides 1/2/3 EX Side 4 EX Apart from 1 very short skip on the 'Rock Bottom' Intro

Audio Test - with budget deck and Audio Technica Studio headphones.

  • Gaps between tracks and songs with quiet intros have some VERY LIGHT audible background only.
  • There are a few clicks but not many.
  • Once the songs start these cannot be heard.
  • Overall the songs sound bright and clear and can be enjoyed without any background noise with that nice Vintage Vinyl Feeling.
  • Really shows off the Analogue mastering of this fantastic live album.
  • Overall, this sounds slightly less clear than the 70s black-vinyl versions, but for a 70s Red Vinyl it still sounds great.
  • Please note there is a very short skip on the guitar into to 'Rock Bottom' this is the only one on the whole album and the track barely skips a beat. If this is going to be your only copy of this LP (which I doubt...!) I'm happy to send a digital version of the Vinyl that does not have the skip.

Visual Inspection/Bright Light:  EX

  • Small number of VERY light, small hairline marks on each side when looking carefully - the kind of marks left by careful cleaning with a cloth and careful handling with an album played a good few times but very well cared for.
  • No deep scratches, no major marks.

Visual Inspection - Bright Daylight: Looks Near Mint.

Vinyl Labels - EX

  • Sides 2/3/4 - NM No marks
  • Side 1 has slight 'bubbling' - probably from the original factory press as there are no other signs of heat or water damage.
  • Colours and printed text all perfect
  • Tiny amount of wear on spindle holes

Outer Sleeve - EX-

• Matt Finish cover seen on the early presses.

• No major marks, creases or colour loss on front or back covers. One small crease on the top right where the sleeve has been bent at some stage.

• TINY amount of wear on corners/edges

• Spine excellent vintage yellowed, writing perfect. It is at a slight angle from storage, which has very slighly mis-aligned the front and back cover but only by a couple of mm  (please see pics)

• No splits

• Very light vintage ring-wear (please see pics) which is found on most vintage LPs.

Plain White Inner Sleeves - EX

• A couple of small marks, vintage yellowing and a few creases at the top of the sleeve.

• Inner spines excellent with no splits.

• Vinyl has been transferred into black anti-static, brand new inners since I cleaned it. These will be provided with the album.

Vinyl Care/Preparation

• I hand-clean every vinyl listed using L'Arc Du Son cleaning solution. This removes old grease, dust etc. to improve the playback quality. This does sometimes leave residue marks, but these don't affect play.

• Once cleaned, I 'buff' the Vinyl using a very soft cleaning-cloth, then place it into an anti-static black sleeve. This sleeve is supplied with the Vinyl you buy.

I also carefully clean and dry the Vinyl outer sleeves to remove old finger marks, dirt and dust. Once done the sleeves are placed into a PVC sleeve to keep them nice and clean, they are shipped with the plastic sleeve.

Vinyls are then listened to end-to-end before grading, in order to make sure they don't skip etc. BEWARE VISUAL-ONLY GRADINGS...some Vinyls that look Near Mint to the eye have skips, others that look marked play near-perfectly. I've learned that you can't grade a Vinyl without listening to it :)

Finally, I take lots of pics and rip the Vinyl to 256kbps MP3 (budget deck only at the moment) and make a sample video, uploaded to YouTube to let you hear the quality of the vinyl surfaces and see HD large pictures of the item.

All of the above is done to help buyers be sure of what they are getting before they spend hard-earned money! For this reason, I am not the cheapest on eBay and don't want to be. All offers are considered but please don't expect me to give them away...think 'Record Store 10%' off, not half the asking price ????

Shipping & Payment

• Well packaged in stiff, thick card mailer + Stiffeners for protection.

• Vinyl will be removed from inner and securely packed during shipping to prevent splits

• I combine shipping cost for multiple purchases - please contact me to let me know before paying and I will give you a quote.

• Please note: eBay and PayPal combined charge me 15% fees on shipping, so unfortunately I have to pass this on. The shipping amount on the label will be a bit lower than the amount you pay...I don't make money on shipping ????
