KISS
"ALIVE!"
The HOLY GRAIL of “Alive!” editions worldwide!!!
2 Single LPs: “Part One” and “Part Two”!!!
The first to tell about this set is something you should already know if you like and collect Kiss records, all the KISS albums released in Chile by Quatro Ltda. Records are extremely rare and hard to find because not many copies were pressed in Chile, Quatro Ltda. Records also imported the albums from Brazil. Some KISS albums released in Chile by Quatro Ltda. Records were pressed in Chile but the covers made in Brazil and they also imported the covers from Brazil for some second pressings when they were overpassed for the demand.
In the case of “ALIVE!” the level of rarity is even higher because here in Chile Quatro Ltda. Records decided to release the double album like two separate single LP’s!!! Yes, Sirs, single LP’s!!! The first of them was released in 1976 with the name “Alive!” (also called “Part One”) and it’s the second record of original double album “Alive!” (beware of the sellers who inform it’s the first record, it means they don’t know the album or they have not heard the record). In 1977, the second part, “Alive! Part Two”, was released in Chile with an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE showing the faces of all KISS members on stage. It’s the first record of original double album “Alive!”. These records, “Alive!”, released by Quatro Ltda. Records, are considered the RAREST PRESSING of “Alive!” worldwide!!! And “Alive! Part Two” is one of the most collectible KISS albums worldwide, one of the hardest to find, a real TOP RARITY!!!
It’s also important to tell that in both cases we got 2 different versions, with single and gatefold covers!!! In the case of “Alive!” (“Part One”) Quatro Ltda. Records released the record with a single cover printed in Chile and with a gatefold cover printed in Brazil (in this case they added a rounded orange sticker at front cover, “Volumen 1”) and the record is also in 2 versions, thick and thin vinyl. In the case of “Alive! Part Two”, Quatro Ltda. Records also released the record with single and gatefold covers, but in this case both covers were printed in Chile!!! For later pressings they also used the same Brazilian gatefold cover with a rounded orange sticker on front cover, “Volumen 2”. And here you will have the chance to get and own these Chilean records with the Chilean covers!!! “Alive!” (“Part One”) with single cover and “Alive! Part Two” with gatefold cover!!! WOW!!!
WHAT A GREAT SET!!!
KISS – “ALIVE!” (also called “Part One”) – Single Cover
This LP corresponds to the second record of original double album “Alive!” and has UNIQUE black Casablanca Records labels with silver lettering, catalog number LP-CAS-8002, with hand etched matrix numbers LP-CAS-8002-A EB-CD in Side 1 and LP-CAS-8002-B EB-CD in Side 2. The vinyl is thin and has the date of pressing etched in the deadwax of both sides “13-10-76” (October 13 of 1976). It’s interesting to notice that in back cover the sides are identified as “One” and “Two” but in labels they are only “A” and “B”.
As already informed, this record has the single cover printed in Chile, it’s a flipback cover made with 2 cardboards, with the laminated front cover paste on the flips of unlaminated back cover. Front cover keeps strictly the original US artwork. Back cover also keeps the original US artwork, but in Chile it’s only black and white with the tracklist of the two sides included in this single LP and all credits text written in English only, with Quatro Records logo and “SERIE SUPER LUJO” (Serie Super Deluxe) at top left corner and catalog number at top right corner. In labels the album title and tracklist, with full credits for sonwriters and additional information, are written in English only. Here in Chile we got the same error of original US press, the song “LET ME GO ROCK AND ROLL”, correctly written in back cover, it’s misspelled “Let Me GO, Rock And Roll” in label, with an extra “,”!!!
The cover was already described and is in VG or VG+ condition, clean and clear, no missing parts, with a faint ring mark, more evident in back cover, age browning and a name written in back cover, with general wear and seam splits in all edges, which don’t really affect the look of the cover, with some rips and tape in top left corner and right side of back cover, the laminated front cover looks really well, it only has some creases but lamination is complete, with only some wear in corners. The record is in strong VG+ or EX- condition, glossy and clean but with scuffs, soft hairlines and very light scratches which don’t affect play at all. Labels on both sides are in EX or EX+ condition, absolutely clean and clear, with minimal spindle hole wear, the reason to downgrade the labels it’s the white mark with the time of each side that some past owner wrote above the album title. The sound is the best part, it’s in strong NM- or NM condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), only some very light crackles and pops here and there, hard to hear if you are not looking for them, which of course don’t distract at all. Overall a great record with maybe not the best cover and not the best look but with an amazing sound quality after about 47 years, which won’t disappoint anyone!!!
KISS – “ALIVE! PART TWO” – Gatefold Cover
This LP correspond to the first record of the original double album “Alive!”, it has coloured Casablanca Records labels and catalog number LP-CAS-8009, with hand etched matrix numbers LP-CAS-8009-A EB-CD in Side 1 and LP-CAS-8009-B EB-CD in Side 2. In the deadwax of both sides is also etched the date of pressing, “28-3-77” (March 28 of 1977). It’s interesting to notice that in back cover the sides are identified as “One” and “Two” but in labels they are only “A” and “B”.
As already informed, this is the Chilean unlaminated gatefold cover and it has an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE with a completely different artwork, a set of 4 pictures of all KISS members on stage. A curious fact about this cover is that it’s made and printed in Chile by “IRT” for Quatro Records (“IRT” is the name of another Chilean record Company), which you can read in the bottom right corner of inside cover with a very small red lettering, “Impreso por IRT – Santiago de Chile” (Printed by IRT – Santiago of Chile). In back cover, at top right corner is the Quatro Ltda. Records logo (“Quatro”) with “Serie Super Lujo” (Super Deluxe Serie) written below the logo, and the catalog number at top left corner. On inside cover is a set of 14 pictures of Kiss live between flames at each side of the inside cover, the same design of original US press. In back cover all the text, the tracklist and the credits are written in English only. In labels the album title, tracklist and all credits are also written in English only, with full credits for songwriters of each song. As you must know, this is the RAREST PRESS of “Alive!” versions worldwide and one of the rarest KISS albums, a TOP RARITY and A MUST TO HAVE!!!
The cover was already described and it’s in VG- or VG condition, complete and solid, but with moderate wear, faint ring marks in front and back covers, some missing parts in front, inside and back covers, residues of tape in some edges, corners bumped, creases and bends, a part of back cover unglued, but in spite of all the “problems”, this gatefold cover doesn’t have sean splits, which’s really a miracle, it seems some past owner “sealed” the mouth edge but it’s already unglued now. Record is in VG- or VG condition, loads of scuffs and hairlines and some light scratches which don’t affect sound at all. Labels in both sides are in EX or EX+ condition both sides, clean and clear, with only a black line painted around the spindle hole for some past owner and minimal spindle hole wear. The sound is far the best part, it’s in superb EX+ or NM- condition both sides, no background noise, only light crackles and some soft pops here and there, which don’t distract at all from the great sound of this record. Overall a great record with maybe not the best cover and not the best look but with an amazing sound quality after about 46 years, which won’t disappoint anyone!!!
So, here you have the rare chance to get this set complete, “ALIVE!” released in Chile as 2 single LP’s, both of them with Chilean covers, with maybe not the best general condition, but in a great condition for serious Kiss collectors who know this set of records is A MUST TO HAVE in almost any condition. Not for Minty minds or audiophiles, but a perfect copy for any KISS collector worldwide, “ ALIVE!” and “ALIVE! PART TWO” released in Chile by Quatro Ltda. Records with UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE and GATEFOLD COVER and perhaps the best sound quality possible to find!!! WOW!!!
BOTH RECORDS WITH GATEFOLD COVERS!!!

_________________________________________________________
We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.
MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.
NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK
We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
