CONDITION & GRADING

WE GRADE THE VINYL AS A VG+++ (9) Just a notch below NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions or light scuffing ARE VISIBLE only under the light bulb, but are insignificant to the overall condition of the vinyl.  When I play-graded this record all the way through, it played as Mint/Perfect, as if it came from the record store yesterday and not 47 years ago. The record of course is pressed on it's original, beautiful, thick inflexible vinyl.  Usually the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic.  Do not expect such majestic analog sound from a digital reproduction!  Here the music the way it was recorded and meant to be heard.

WE GRADE THE COVER AS MINT MINUS (10), AND IT IS STILL IN IT'S ORIGINAL SHRINK WRAP.   It has no saw marks, no stickers, no drill holes, no cut outs, no indentations, no writing, no ring wear, not shopworn, no yellowing, no stains, no mildew marks, no stickers or labels, no water damage, no scratches, no warping, no bar codes, no cracking or wrinkling of the seams or RIAA stamps or stickers. NOTHING that would distract you from looking at this like new cover.  Please note, that the picture of the back cover appears to be graying.  This is only because the picture was shot with the shrink wrap on.  Please rest assured, that the back cover is bright white as it came from the record store 47 years ago.

All records are machine cleaned.  Each order is carefully packaged by removing the record from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of a 3 ml plastic cover sleeve over the LP and jacket, and shipped in record mailers with 2 thick corrugate pad inserts to protect from damage. We aim to get this record to you in the same condition as it leaves our hands.

"You Really Got Me" is a rock song written by Ray Davies and performed by his band, The Kinks. It was released on 4th August 1964 as the group's third single, and reached Number 1 on the UK singles chart the next month, remaining for two weeks. It was the group's breakthrough hit; it established them as one of the top British Invasion acts in the United States, reaching Number 7 there later in the year. It was later included on the Kinks' debut album, Kinks.

"You Really Got Me" was an early hit song built around power chords (perfect 5ths and octaves), and was heavily influential on later rock musicians, particularly in the heavy metal genre. American musicologist Robert Walser wrote that it is, "the track which invented heavy metal" while critic Denise Sullivan of Allmusic writes, "'You Really Got Me' remains a blueprint song in the hard rock and heavy metal arsenal."
