Originally released in 1976, King Tubby's headsy Prophecies of Dub is a deeply atmospheric dub album with a backstory as layered as its mix. Though credited to Tubby, much of it was mixed by the underrated Pat Kelly using Bunny Lee's riddims and under the quiet guidance of producer Yabby You. The result is a hypnotic journey through some of the finest roots dub of the era - crackling drum-and-bass, ghostly horns and stripped vocals drifting in and out of space. A reissue worth celebrating, it restores a hidden classic to its rightful place in the canon of Jamaican dub excellence.
