Description
This is truly a REMARKABLE Jazz/R&B EP from 1958. Certainly one of the RARERST that RCA ever pressed & one of the BEST! (RCA EPA-4196). Titled "The Battle For The Beat" & features KING CURTIS & COUNT HASTINGS (with Leroy Kirkland's Hi-Flyers) battling it out on "Tenor Sax" Boy does it BOP! Furious Beat! Will absolutely knock you SIDEWAYS! Side 1: "Battle Royal", "Royal Tenors"; Side 2: "Night Before Battle" , "The Count And The King"..with Sir Leroy Kirkland And His Jumpin' Knights.
Back liner notes: "Gather, ye knights of the round cool table, and harkin to the sound of the hi-fi battle. The swingin' King and the gone Count interlock with no decision as yet. As with knights of yore, the tournament opens with the "Battle Royal". Mounted on tenors (saxes) the knights joust the most, leaving the green rockin'...Reeling and rocking "The Count And The King" engage in a final round of mortal combat, note for note, denting their musical armor with solid blows."

This item is from a store local to mine that went out of business many years ago due to the death of the owner. Many of the items that we are selling are new old stock store items and have never been played. We have been granted access into their storage area for these rare Garage, Psych, Rockabilly, Soul and Blues 45s. We have been charged with helping to liquidate their inventory, which will likely be a year long project.
We ship within 1 day of payment via media mail.
Overseas customers, please do not ask us to change the pricing on the shipping labels or mark as "gift". That's just rude.
