Description
This is an auction for a copy of the Classic debut Lp by King Crimson entitled In the Court of the Crimson King released in the Uk in 1969 on Island records cat no ILPS 9111. This is a very very rare early press on the Pink Island label with the Matrix number A2 and B2, making it one of the first copies pressed. These early pressings very rarely come up for sale as the later matrix numbers are far more common. This early press is made on far heavier vinyl than on later pressings and the inner part of the labels are textured.
The Vinyl looks very nice. Side 1 is in Very Good condition+ condition with a few light marks. Side 2 has a scuff over "Moonchild", which makes no differance to the Audio, and a few other light marks but i am still happy to grade it as Very Good. I have listened to the entire Lp at high volume and it sounds very good. The Lp sits nice and flat on the turntable. It plays through without any skips or jumps and was overall a pleasure to listen to. There is some background noise on both sides and the odd light tick but i am happy to grade the audio as Very Good.
The labels are in Excellent condition and are textured on the inner part around the spindle holes.
The Original E.J Day gatefold cover is in Very Good++ condition. There is some light storage wear to the corners and edges but the wording on the spine is clearly still visible. This is a difficult cover to keep intact but this one is definately one of the better ones that i have seen. It still looks excellent when it is opened.
Overall a nice copy of this very rare early press.

Grading:- MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc
