I have played this in FULL> The replay is ASTOUNDING!!! I first played for a general listen and a second time for a more in-depth observation. I am very glad to say that there are not any jumps or skips. Unbelievably as it may sound there is not any  background noise at all, there are no hairlines or scuffs at all!! Very remarkable for this 1974 vinyl!!!  Great songcraft, with Bill Bruford and John Wetton on board, no wonder this album is now so sought after. This is a topdrawer album. If you like this, the first album by UK (with John Wetton and Bill Bruford) is also well worth checking out and can still be had for relatively little money (but is getting harder to get as well so be quick!). I played this on my Technics turntable with a Linn cartridge and through my very revealing B&W three way speakers!!!

 HOLY GRAIL PROG ROCK LP ESPECIALLY IN THIS AWESOME CONDITION!  A WELCOME RETURN TO SUBLIME FORM. THE RECORD IS IN FANTASTIC NM CONDITION, PLAYS AWESOME ON EACH SIDE AND LOOKS LIKE FRESH PRESSED!!! THE SLEEVE IS FRONT LAMINATED, AS YOU CAN SEE THE COVER IS IN  NEAR MINT CONDITION, SEE PICS!  TRY TO FIND ANOTHER COPY LIKE THIS ONE!!!  A FANTASTIC COLLECTOR'S COPY!

This album is just as it was when it was first sold over the counter of a 1974's record shop!!! It is not very often that you come across a vinyl of such superior quality. As such this is the ultimate VAULT copy!!!

!The next incarnation of King Crimson started touching upon new territory veering into what nowadays would be called progmetal!!! Still the Crimson of old is still to be heard on  tracks like e.g. "Fallen Angel".Phenomenal musicianship!!! Listen to "Providence"  for example, totally engaging with all three members at that time taking their craft to a next level.

The lyrics and melody for "Starless" were written by John Wetton. He originally intended the song to be the title track of the group's previous album Starless and Bible Black. Fripp and Bruford initially disliked the song and declined to record it for that album. Instead the group chose an instrumental composition as the title track for the Starless and Bible Black album. However, "Starless" was later revived, its lyrics altered and a long instrumental section (based on a bass riff contributed by Bruford) added to it, and performed live between March–June 1974. For the Red recording sessions, the lyrics were again altered (with contributions by Richard Palmer-James). The haunting introductory theme, originally contributed and played by David Cross, was taken over by the guitar, with Fripp making minor alterations to the melody. As the title "Starless and Bible Black" had already been used, the original title was shortened to "Starless".

                                 Vinyl:  NM. I have played this in full> There are NO jumps, NO clicks and NO sticks!!! The audio is breathtaking!!! I have never come across such a perfect copy. Under a strong light one tiny wispy retraction hairline but this cannot be heard on replay. Under an intense light it looks NM. The audio is stunning all the way and this album sounds fantastic and was totally underrated at the time. It totally went under the radar and is now extremely scarce especially as a first issue. Unbelievable musicianship and no wonder that this album is so much sought after.

                         Sleeve: EX++ to NM. Front and back laminated. What can I say? This has to be the very best of this album I have ever come across!!!! This will sit proudly in even the most demanding of collections. An absoluty fantastic upgrade!! Just look at the pics. Rich like newly printed colours, this has been stored away from sunlight for 37 years. All edges are sharp and crisp. No stickers, NO writing, NO smudges .... and ... NO creases. This looks as if it was purchased yesterday over the counter of a 70's record shop. All edges are 100% WITHOUT ANY WEAR!!! Just look at the pictures. Notoriously hard to find but impossible in this condition!!!

This is a unique investment opportunity!!! Finding this album in any condition at all is nearly impossible so late in the day. This album is only going to go one way ... up and up ... until it will be totally unavailable at all for a reasonable price. Not many sold as it only ever got into the very lowest regions of the UK album chart. How many would be left??? But in this superb condition ....? Golddust!!
