Description

KING CRIMSON - ISLANDS

A brilliant condition UK 1st press copy of this 1971 King Crimson prog rock gem.

Year/Label : 1971 UK ISLAND Label number : ILPS 9175 Matrix numbers : ILPS 9175 A-1U, ILPS 9175 B-1U  Stampers :  1 G 11 /  3 A 11
Excellent+ (EX+) condition vinyl -  gleaming with beautiful jet black sheen, completely flat and weighty with just a few extremely faint paper scuff lines, only detectable upon close inspection under a bright light. Near mint (NM) condition labels with not even the usual one or two faint spindle trails - pristine. Clearly this is a record that has been played only sparingly, with the superb stereo sound quality further supporting this view.  Non-laminated excellent plus (EX+) condition original E.J. Day outer sleeve with firm unscuffed edges, perfectly defined right angled corners, rigid spine, firm opening edges with no fraying, no creasing, and all colours & art work remaining beautifully intact. The only outer sleeve blemishes are two non-obvious front-side horizontal storage marks (see photos), next to the top and bottom edges - you will have to look closely to notice them. The fold-out inner sleeve is in excellent (EX) condition with just the hint of some very mild ring wear and the occasional equally light storage "ripple" and small trivial light mark...nothing really. There is a 2cm split at the very top of the fold-out spine seam and a 1cm split at the bottom - again, not obvious. The original colours, text, and photos remain in overall beautifully impressive condition. This inner fold-out sleeve is renowned for it's fragility and it is indeed rare to come across a 1st press copy still in such truly excellent condition as this. Hard to believe that the record and outer sleeve are both 53 years of age! Near mint (NM) stereo audio quality with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, clicks, distortion, interference, or background crackle. Stunning! Every track makes for superb listening. Timeless!   Note that I always ship my records in a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original.    A King Crimson gem, a prog rock classic...a "must" for any serious rock vinyl collection.
POSTAGE COSTS :

For the UK £4 using Royal Mail tracked 48;

for continental Europe £11 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for,

and for the rest of the world £18 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for.

I do provide posting and packaging discounts for multiple purchases. I make no profit from postage.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
