PINK "I"

  1st UK PRESS

1969

Machined first press matrices:  A//2  B//2

An impossible earliest press (probably within the first week of issue). Most listings will have the B//4 OR B//3 matrices. These are not true first presses!! The A//2 B//2 matrices are super rare and straight from the masters. There are no more than 500 to 600 of these around. This rarely ever comes up at all. Of course another signifier are the rough textured labels. Later issues were smooth labelled.

So, so hard to find, King Crimson's all time classic album as a true first press and here it is where it all came together from start to finish!! Splendid debut prog album in great EX condition!! This is grandeur from the first note till the very. last I am very happy to be able to present this fantastic and ULTRA rare album . This will be a great first acquisition as well as a terrific upgrade.

A eye-opening debut if ever there was one!! That bespectacled musical mage, Robert Fripp, indeed assembled a court of kings for this adventure: Michael Giles, Greg Lake, Ian McDonald, Peter Sinfield. Most would remain for Crimson’s next voyage, but already the band was writing their epitaph. With such a sense of urgency, the band takes pains to get it right the first time, and they do. In fact, beyond peradventure, no band had sallied forth into the forest for the first time and achieved this measure of fame on their return.

When the dust had settled, King Crimson was crowned rock’s new champion, ushering in a golden age of music where brute force and beauty commingle with the sounds of distant worlds. That such powerful songs could be rendered with as deft a touch was a revelation. Cream had aspired to this place with “Tales of Brave Ulysses,” the Moodies had sought to soar so high on their mellotron one “Tuesday Afternoon,” but both were revealed as pretenders to the crown by The Court of the Crimson King. The album also set the stage for the further adventures of ELP and the progressive paladins who followed.

THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND!!!!  THIS IS ONE OF THE RAREST LPs ON THE PINK ISLAND LABEL - AND VIRTUALLY NEVER TURNS UP FOR SALE!!!!  JUST TRY AND FIND ANOTHER ONE!!!!  BACK IN 1969 WHEN THIS LP WAS FIRST RELEASED - IT ONLY EVER SOLD IN ABSOLUTELY TINY AMOUNTS!!!! NO MORE THAN A COUPLE OF THOUSAND WERE PRESSED UP, HOW MANY WOULD STILL BE LEFT??

Though there are rarely ever any problems with my items, I always try my very best to describe everything exactly!  PLEASE REMEMBER to contact me FIRST,  if you have any problems at all, before you leave feedback and star ratings, so I get a chance to turn any negative experience into a positive one!  I can always happily sort anything out for you, if you let me know you have a problem!  This way no one has to leave Negative/Neutral feedback - and we both walk away happy! Similarly with the amount of stars, anything less than a full 5 * rating is effectively detrimental to a seller's rating as lower ratings will incur higher Final Value Fees  and lower priority in the bidlists eventually making it unattractive to list items on Ebay at all. I know of at least one major previous Ebay seller who has decided not to list via Ebay again. Please do NOT bid if you cannot give me at least 1 chance to sort everything out to your FULL satisfaction in the unlikely event of a problem.  Thanks again!!

Vinyl: EX. A sublime vinyl with fantastic sound reproduction. No marks or hairlines, this looks gleaming and glossy. There are a few paper retraction traces visible under a strong light source.  First press matrices and mother stampers. This will be a fantastic upgrade for most long time collectors!

Gatefold sleeve: VG+/EX. Fantastic looked after sleeve without much wear and no damage. Made and printed by E.J Day Group. Not any crease at all, the pictures tell all. Only the lightest of possible shelf wear to the top and bottom edges. The spine is partly legible and has light storage wear and still nice and square. The inner gatefold is near mint. No writing, no marks, no smudges.

This is a unique investment opportunity!!! The next prog album to go completely through the roof. Finding this album in any condition at all is nearly impossible so late in the day. Get this while you still can. This value of the album is only going to go one way ... up and up ... until it will be totally unavailable at all for a reasonable price.

Important : International postage will be registered and insured if over GBP 45.00.  Please wait for my invoice before paying. Postage will be according to Royal Mail rates. Postage is NOT a money spinning exercise for me.
