KING CRIMSON - IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING

1969 UK "pink" Island 1st press in great condition and with superb stereo sound quality throughout

Year/Label : 1969 UK "Pink" ISLAND
Label number : STEREO ILPS-9111
Matrix numbers : ILPS 9111 A/2, ILPS 9111 B/4
Stampers :  1 212  /  11 10
Excellent (EX) condition vinyl - completely flat, retaining a jet black sheen and in normal daylight comes across as completely unmarked. Only with close inspection under a bright light is it possible to detect just a few extremely faint paper scuffs and a couple of 1-2 faint surface scuff lines on side 2 - each purely superficial and not impinging upon the wonderful audio quality at all. To be totally accurate I would grade side 1 as "excellent plus" and side 2 as "excellent". Similarly each label is excellent plus with just a couple of small and very, very faint spindle trails identifiable under a bright light, otherwise perfect. Clearly this is a record that has been sparingly played.  The condition of the  original and iconic UK non-laminated E.J. Day outer gatefold sleeve is a strong excellent (EX). The stunning, iconic art work, graphics, and sleeve text all remain all remain beautifully intact. Each edge remains firm with just the occasional tiny scuff "nick" and a little more noticeable intermittent light scuff on the reverse side bottom edge and each of the corners, which themselves remain near perfectly defined right angle  - all very minor. The spine remains rigid with the spine text perfectly intact and just two non-obvious and very light 1.5 cm surface creases adjacent and perpendicular to the spine on the front side. Each opening edge also remains firm with no fraying. The interior of the gatefold is difficult to fault in any way, with all text and colouring/art work remaining beautifully intact.  The STEREO audio quality is a stunning excellent plus (EX+) with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, obvious clicks, interference, distortion or background crackle. You may just be able to detect 3 or 4 very light random background clicks (barely noticeable) no doubt due to the odd speck of dust caught in the grooves through decades of storage...negligible and not intruding upon the sound quality at all. Timeless prog at it's very best with the sound quality being so much better on vinyl than a digitised CD (in my opinion!).   Comes with great condition plain white inner sleeve with correct "PATENT..." and "MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN" horizontal texts with no seam splits, no age discolouration, and barely any creasing.
On of the true prog rock classics and now becoming very hard to locate UK 1st pressings in condition as truly impressive as this.
POSTAGE COSTS :

For the UK £4 using Royal Mail tracked 48;

for continental Europe £12 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for,

and for the rest of the world £18 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for.

I do provide posting and packaging discounts for multiple purchases. I make no profit from postage.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
