"Blue Lights, Volume 2" LP
Very old mono pressing with "RVG" machine stamp and "ear" mark etched in the dead wax area on both sides.

Looks G+ but plays VG+ condition with excellent fidelity and NO skips.
Has some light surface scratches & scuffs, but still shiny with no visible groove wear. Played very well for me with excellent sounding music throughout. There is some light surface noise audible between tracks, with a few louder ticks audible in a couple of places. I played the entire record, both sides, and there were NO skips on my turntable (a vintage Fisher "Studio Standard" tracking at 1.25 grams). Labels are EX with a few faint spindle marks.

Great cover. Front still has all it's original shine and can be considered NM. Edges are all excellent too, with no wear except for a couple of very small dings at the corners. Back is very nice with only a few small spots at the open edge and near the song list.

Grading Scale:
All grades are based on close visual inspection under a bright light source. Records are not play tested unless stated otherwise in the listing (i.e. "played well for me," or "had excellent sound"). You may also sometimes see a record or album cover with a split grade, for example "VG++ to NM" or "VG to VG+." Split grades are given because we base our grading on a number system from 1-10, with ten being the highest grade. So, for example, since VG++ is from 8.0 to 9.0 and NM is 9.0 to 10, a record that we grade as being a "9" is at the borderline between VG++ and NM. In our estimation, this item is at the very least a strong example of the lower grade - or possibly a slightly lesser example of the higher grade. A split grade is also sometimes given if one side of the record or cover is better than the other. In that case, it will be noted in the listing as "VG / VG+" or "VG++ / NM" indicating one side is better condition than the other.
Mint (M) = A perfect 10. Only used for sealed items - record sealed inside is assumed to be mint, but please note we will not open a sealed item to inspect for any possible manufacturing defects
NM = 9 to 10. Excellent; very little if any wear. Top grade for used items.
EX = 8 to 9. Has very minor wear. Will still look and sound excellent.
VG+ = 7 to 8. Has minor wear. Still looks nice - still sounds nice - might have light surface noise in some places.
VG = 6 to 7. Has moderate wear. Scuffs/scratches are more noticeable. Music still sounds fine, but you will also hear background surface noise in places.
G+ = 5 to 6. Moderate to heavier wear. Has surface noise, but should not drown out music or skip. Might not be for serious audiophiles, but more casual listeners will still enjoy, despite the flaws.
G = 4 to 5. Heavy wear. The vinyl and/or cover will have many scuffs, scratches and/or other defects. Audiophiles should probably avoid.

Note: The "deep groove" is a mistake in listing: groove on label does not appear to be "deep" groove, from what I am now learning. I had assumed "deep groove" meant how deep the grooves in the record were cut (which is why old records usually play better than newer ones, even when there are scratches). Now I am seeing info that says this is not what deep groove means. The circular line on the label is probably not deep enough to be called "deep groove." Sorry for the error. I am not an expert on old jazz pressings. I can not change the text in the listing now that there are bids, I can only add this note.
On Mar-18-15 at 07:02:35 PDT, seller added the following information: Labels of this record are not deep groove. Most Blue Note pressings made during the 1950s have a deep groove on both sides of the label. After 1960, new pressing dies which left no deep groove were introduced into the manufacturing process. The vinyl is heavy weight, at least 180 gram. Exact pressing date is unknown, but it would certainly have to be early 1960's at the latest.
