Description

Right, although I've been dealing records on ebay for many years, I am selling this one on behalf of my mother, who knew Keith in Bristol in the 60's. She has owned this LP since she was a teenager. I can find just one mention of this recording on the internet. As far as I know it has NEVER BEEN OFFERED FOR SALE. Furthermore, my mother went to watch Keith play a gig some years ago (more than 10), he recognised and remembered her but was amazed she still had this LP. He said he thought it was the only known copy left. He didnt have a copy himself.

Ive quizzed my mum about the record and she can remember bits and pieces. This is certainly more info than I can find anywhere on the internet.

Firstly she purchased the record from Keith himself. My mum used to run the door/take the money for Keiths band when they played a regular Saturday lunchtime gig at the DUG OUT CLUB in Bristol in the mid 60s. Her then boyfriend played flute in the ensemble. He is however not on the LP.

This 8-track LP was apparently recorded in London (Keith still lived at home in Bristol at the time), in either 1965 or 1966.

It features Keiths piano playing accompanied by drums and bass. My mum remembers only one of the other musicians as "Bob".

She is pretty sure there were only 5 COPIES PRESSED. Seems a very low amount but she is adamant.

There is reference to an unreleased test pressing LP on a US Keith Tippett discography site. Its almost definitely the same LP. On the site the run out groove number is listed as HS 001 A/B, this is definitely stamped HS 12 001 A/B. It also states recording as 1967 but my mum says its definitely earlier than that. It sounds it too.

As regards the music itself, I must admit to knowing little of Keith Tippett's work and despite knowing a lot about Psychedelia/Post Punk & Indie, I know little about Jazz. To me it sounds like a small 60s jazz outfit. The one tune I recognise, Summertime, is for these ears an interesting arrangement. To be honest I wouldnt be able to tell if the whole LP is full of standards or if there are any original compostions.

Any questions please don't hesititate to ask! 100% genuine item.
