The Keith Tippett Group's most classic lineup of Marc Charig, Nick Evans and Elton Dean performed this album with appearances in the rhythm section from British jazz greats including Jeff Clyne, Trevor Tomkins and Bryan Spring. All six of the tunes are previously unreleased and were recorded live in the studio in January and August of 1970, originally for radio broadcast. The new seminal band fused jazz and rock in brave new ways on albums for Polydor and Vertigo and this in-between album finds them in bold and adventurous developmental mode with plenty of improv, expression and rich harmonic and emotional variation.
