Label Conditions: Both are practically as new with just the odd faint spindle trace –never easy to find early copies of this album in hardly played condition. One vertical ‘mark’ is within the printing and nothing to do with spindle usage.

Warps: Assume all records I offer have no warping of any significance and all tracking is easy and effortless and should play on all turntables and even ‘budget’ decks.

Brief Info: Her fourth album and another wonderful set from one of the most inventive female artists ever, totalling justifying Dave Gilmours confidence in her – the man himself is credited with vocals as well. Often new artists issue a very impressive debut, then fade away, nothing could be further from this with Kate, her albums went from strength-to-strength and even today, is still very popular. Less commercial than before with an almost progressive edge, even featuring Rolf Harris on didjeridu, it still charted highly and sold well. This hardly played record sounds fantastic and is a top quality pressing. This set should again please fans of this unique English rose, a rare, precious and above all else, original artist.

Cover Grade and Format: EXCELLENT(++): an unlaminated single format with matt, smooth surfaces. Printed and made in England, includes the hard card lyric inner sleeve.

Cover Front & Back: Light traces of set-off on the white at the top, but little else to fault, and this being very critical. Fresh and attractive with hardly a crease to be seen, also devoid of ring wear.

Top & Bottom Edges: Practically unworn and very straight too.

Right Edge(s), and Type: Clean, very sharp with barely any hint of wear. Record enters on this edge which is guaranteed untrimmed.

Spine and Text: Little short of perfect: solid, straight with no compression. All text is perfect and unworn.

Corners: Any tip rubbing barely even registers, especially being white, all retain excellent or better shape.

Cover Summary: A very strong all-round example of this early 80’s cover, one that will prove very difficult to find much better. Cover protected, like the other Bush albums on offer from the same source, this should please many, if not most collectors.

The Inner Sleeve: PRACTICALLY MINT: just one tiny press mark and as clean and fresh as new with no creases, splits, tears (or repairs), even the shaped recessed top opening is ultra crisp. The song lyrics are printed on both sides. A major bonus, are the lack of fingermarks on black surfaces that will reveal all. Once applied, they are near impossible to remove, but this appears to have none.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: MINT(-): clearly hardly handled or played and this is hardly run-in in vinyl terms. A super visual copy that is very clean, shiny, intense black and solidly pressed. Never an easy title to find quite this clean and it plays beautifully. Even under light, minimal surface traces, the reason being, the one-and-only original owner immediately put the record inside a lined replacement sleeve to protect the surfaces. Thus any traces are very few, fine and faint as seen (just) critically under bright angled light. Also the reason the inner sleeve has survived in such impressive and unsplit condition, few will better than either. Visually a super record that should please most collectors again.

Album Played For Grading: Yes. [I play ALL records I offer before submitting to Ebay, also the record is played in its entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing B&W speakers that include the legendary tweeter from their awesome Nautilus range that reveals every blemish or minuscule sound present on any record.]

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: This beautiful EMI record plays up to it’s high visual grading with barely anything to fault. Strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear - sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. A genuine hi-fi quality recording with Kate’s unique vocals offering a real in-the-room quality as does the complex host of backing. Any surface sounds barely even registered and few will better it. Both channels are clean and sharp, I feel very sure this record has been played very lightly and has been well stored and carefully handled, almost certainly in a non-smoking environment. No pressing noises or unwanted sounds, nothing spoilt my pleasure when play-grading this wonderful record. This copy could prove very difficult to find significantly better and most fans of this unique British artist will enjoy it.

SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE

My Use of Description Terminology: Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound. Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record’s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform. Original = a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT necessarily mean a very first pressed record. First Pressing = A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record. I do not claim to always know for sure, and that’s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide. I prefer to use terms like ‘Early Copy’ rather than ‘First Pressing’ if I am not totally sure. Surface Sound = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar. Distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus – the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so. The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality. Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion. Feathering = Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover. Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive. Set Off, actually a printer’s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon. e.g. when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area – this is mostly unavoidable or course.

The Argument for Vinyl Original sound and mix (mono mixes are rarely available on CD), high quality sound on clean copies (played on a hi-end dedicated analogue system – breathtaking sound!), beautiful, large format covers, artwork, inserts and even full size posters etc; huge investment potential, and the pleasure of owning ‘the real thing’.
