Description

Both labels have 767 Lexington Ave. address; the same address at the bottom of the back cover.  The record has the "ear" and "RVG" inscribed in the dead wax. Deep groove.  Leader, Jutta Hipp, piano; Jerry Lloyd, trumpet; Zoot Sims, tenor sax; Ahmed Abdul-Malik, bass; Ed Thigpen, drums.  6 tracks. Both labels are stamped "For Promotion", also on the top margin of the back cover (see scan). Moderately heavy vinyl pressing.

Cover:  Good(-)   The jacket is clean.  There is scotch tape applied to the entire spine; a 2" piece of scotch tape on the upper edge at the insert edge. 2 - 1" and 1 - 2" scotch tape sections applied to the bottom edge.  The top and bottom edges have some wear, but no splits while 7" of the spine appear to be split though covered with the aging scotch tape. A tear on the front cover near the upper edge and near the spine appear to have been painted green to blend with the  color of part of the front cover of the jacket. Light overall aging.

Record:  VG+ to VG++  Visually shows light wear with a few light surface rub marks and sever light brush-like surface rub marks mainly on Side 1 , less on Side 2. The overall appearance is clean.  On Track 1, Side 1, faint groove noise on the first 2 or 3 revolutions followed by 2 or 3 very light clicks.  Further along the Track are a small number of light, isolated clicks. A few repete towards the end of the Track for 3 or 4 revolutions with a few additional light clicks at the end of the Track. Track 2 has a few isolated, very light clicks near the beginning of the Track. Also, a few very light isolated clicks scattered throughout the Track. Most are very light with 3 or 4 more audible. On Track 3, only 3 or 4 isolated light clicks, 1 more audible. On Side 2, Track 1, there are 2 or 3 light clicks at the beginning of the Track with 1 faint "skip" of 1 groove. Along the Track, there are a few, isolated light clicks, 2 or 3 are more audible towards the end of the Track.  On Track 2, faint groove noise for 1 or 2 revolutions near mid Track. These are barely audible and 3 or 4 clicks toward the end of the piano solo. An additional light click toward the end of the Track. No noise on Track 3. I have tried to competely describe the record. In general the sound is very good with the scattered noise described. Audibly checked.
