”Jutta Hipp at the Hickory House Volume 1” Blue Note BLP 1515.

   

This is the original Van Gelder-etched (“RVG”), deep-groove, flat-rim mono pressing of ”Jutta Hipp at the Hickory House Volume 1” on the Blue Note Records 767 Lexington Ave NYC labels of Blue Note BLP 1515. “Ear” or P present in deadwax.

Get a taste of that original Blue Note first pressing magic. No reissue will ever sound as good.

 

Under direct light, this vinyl has many non-feel-able hairline marks on both vinyl sides. There is one ½” feel-able scratch that is not audible on Side 2.  Minor spindle hole marks on each label. Both labels clean and bright. High gloss on both sides. The music signal from piano, bass and drums is so strong, rich and clear, with absolutely no distortion; as with all powerfully-recorded Blue Note first pressings, the consistent low level surface noise does not deter from the enjoyment of the music. This is an incredibly dynamic and powerful sounding LP. An early and rare, pre-1958 Flat Rim disc.

      

COVER: The 767 Lexington Avenue, New York 21 Frame cover (Original Jacket) is veritably MINT. FRONT: A small promo hole punch is seen above “1515” on the cover, and another near the right-side opening; both punch holes are through to the back jacket.  BACK: One-third of way up on the back cover can be seen a ½” thick discoloration strip. Two-thirds up, the finish has been worn down to the cardboard stock, as seen in the photos. NO seam Splits. NO tape. Lower front right corner slightly wrinkled, otherwise MINT. Personnel includes Jutta Hipp, Vernell Fournier, Peter Ind.

 

This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge/Music Hall Moo Mat, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers.
