Description
Handkerchief, souvenir of Johnny O'Keefe, cotton, 1958-1961.
Square handkerchief with photographic image of Johnny O'Keefe's head and shoulders printed onto surfaces in red, black and grey. Hemmed on all sides. Printed text in black writing: 'For You, Johnny O'Keefe'.
Probably made for 'Friends of Johnny O'Keefe', the fan club established in 1957. O'Keefe asked Lola Dullow to run the club and she became its President. O'Keefe paid for the printing of the membership cards and it is likely that he and Dullow organised the manufacture of merchandise including this item.
These handkerchiefs are advertised in Pix magazine, 23 September 1961. They could be purchased for six shillings from Contact Promotions c/- PO Milsons Point, NSW.
