History
Recorded during his five year "vacation" from Duke Ellington's orchestra, this Johnny Hodges set features his band sticking mostly to standards. With trumpeter Harold "Shorty" Baker, trombonist Lawrence Brown, baritonist Harry Carney, pianist Call Cobbs, or Richie Powell, bassist John Williams, drummer Louis Bellson, and either Jimmy Hamilton or John Coltrane (who unfortunately does not solo) on tenor, Hodges had a particularly strong group. High points include "On the Sunny Side of the Street," the title track and a seven-song ballad medley. This session was also included in Mosaic's six-LP Johnny Hodges set.

Shipping
I DO NOT pre-package so the quote from the eBay Shipping Wizard is not ALWAYS the actual amount, it could be higher or even lower once the item is packed and ready to be shipped. I am 65yrs old, I live on SS which isn't much but I am grateful to have it. Ebay is my Bread and butter since I am fond of eating, I can't afford to ship for free but I am believing God for that to happen...Until then, I charge between $3.00 to $4.00 S/H fee, (depends on how big the package is)I recycle as much as possible to make shipping cheaper. Insurance is included in this fee and is built into the shipping quote and is required by eBay now. But if you do not want insurance you need to let me know ASAP... I ship within 4 business days after I have received a cleared payment. I love to combine to save you money on shipping cost, so if your items are purchased within a 7 day Auction slot, I only charge 50 cents extra per item. This goes for my International buyer too...So to all bidders please let me know if you are bidding on more than one item ASAP so I can hold off sending you an invoice until all bidding is completed. Internationals please e-mail me before bidding if you have any questions about shipping quotes; also to my International Customers I am not responsible for Customs Delays or Costs Sorry!
