78 RPM record grading (modified VJM system)

N-    near mint, has been played, but no visible signs of wear/damage

E+   plays like nearly new w/ very few signs of handling

E      still lots of gloss, any lite scuffs or scratches do not appreciably affect sound

E-    still has some shine, but w/o lustre of new record, possibly quite visible
scratches & scuffs, but no skipped or repeat grooves

V+   average condition record w/ somewhat dulled finish- surface noise is not
overly pronounced & record is generally free of distortion

V      moderate to heavier wear evident, but still quite playable.  music overrules
        surface noise

V-     still quite playable, but distortion & heavy greying in louder passages.  music
         still prevails over noise

G+    grey throughout, but still serviceable depending upon your tolerance levels.
         heavy scratches & muffled sound

G       seriously worn record, probably not worth it unless quite rare

G-      only worth it if near impossible to find in better condition

One look at my feedback will demonstrate that I grade conservatively.  I sell mostly 45 RPM & 33 RPM records.  Notwithstanding the fact that there is a vast
difference in native surface noise between the three media, I make every attempt to grade 78's conservatively also.  Thanks for looking.
