Description

Ultra rare 78 RPM pressing from 1956. At this time 78s were on the outs and 45's were taking over. There were a decent number made of this one, but most all of them are long gone, being made cheaply, much more so than the 40s era, they are much more fragile than glass! This 78 was a very cool minimalistic early rocker, rockabilly crossover, whatever you want to call it, it was just COOL in a world that had been lacking cool for a LONG TIME! This makes it even more rare. These fragile discs were always well loved, and this one's survival was very unlikely. It has nice gloss, a few stylus scratches, a few scuffs, GREAT labels (if you've seen some recent ones) with good color, light spindling. It does has a very fine hairline crack beginning that's about 1" at the outside, but is probably not audible at this time and barely visible to the untrained eye. Most of these Sun 78s from this era all sport a hairline crack, from age and instability of the shellac that was very thin and cheap, not from mishandling. In fact, this one has very little wear or play and is suitable for framing. It is a collectors item, and while it probably sounds pretty nice, I wouldn't play it, as it is sooo fragile! The 78 version is cool and rare, as it represents the end of one era and the beginning of another era. The transition from country and blues into rock, and the old format being replaced by the new.
