JOHN WALDEN'S BLUES COMBINE
John 'Whiteboy' Walden began playing harmonica from the age of 8. He quit school to turn professional in 1965 and became one of the most highly-respected harmonica players in Europe. He was a master of both the 10-hole diatonic chromatic harmonicas, especially when it came to blues.
John toured all over the world with blues greats such as: Rory Gallagher, Lightning Hopkins, The Madison Blues Band, Madeline Bell, Eva Jones and many others.
As early as 1968-69, he was playing in Paris with his group the John Walden Workshop. It was during this period that he made a number of professionally produced recordings at ‘Sound Organization Recording Studios’ in London with his band.
Whereas contemporary British R&B bands such as The Yardbirds, Downliners Sect & The Pretty Things all enjoyed reasonably successful recording careers, none of John Walden’s bands were ever signed to a label.
Sadly John passed away last year but these recordings are a testament to his talent and love of the Blues and represent the true heart and spirit of 1960’s British R&B.
This 2-sided 10" EMIDISC 45rpm acetate contains 4 unreleased tracks.
SIDE 1 is dated '5 April 1968' and contains one track - 'Monin'
Side 2 contains 3 tracks: 'Sittin' About', 'When The Saints' & 'Chain Gang'.
CONDITION
Disc: GOOD
The disc is clean & lies flat but each side has several surface marks, one of which on track 2, side 2 can be felt.
The sound quality is fairly quiet and moderate background noise is audible.
Track 2 on side 2 'When the Saints' plays with a repeating click for the first minute or so but does not jump or repeat.
