My listings a this week include an extensive collection of albums by the 'Godfather of the British Blues' scene - John Mayall.

His musical career spans fifty years and he has just released his 57th album. However, most notable period of his work ocurred during the late '60s, which is where most of this collection dates from.

He was the founder of John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and has been influential in the careers of many instrumentalists, including: Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Peter Green, John McVie, Mick Fleetwood, Mick Taylor, Don "Sugarcane" Harris, Harvey Mandel, Larry Taylor, Aynsley Dunbar, Hughie Flint, Jon Hiseman, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Andy Fraser, Johnny Almond, Jon Mark, Walter Trout, Coco Montoya, and Buddy Whittington. & his Bluesbreakers.

All discs in this collection have been put together by a single collector over many years and represent a rare opportunity to acquire most of his greatest LPs, all in outstanding condition.

This Excellent & very difficult to locate 1968 1st MONO pressing is on the unboxed, ungrooved red & silver Decca label: LK.4945

It is housed within an outer laminated 'Robert Stace' printed gatefold mono cover with no format indicator hole on the rear panel & spine.

Complete with its original poly-lined inner-sleeve.

A super clean & unworn set with a small collection of light spindle marks to each centre hole, but no major faults.

Visual: EXCELLENT

Extremely clean & bright playing surfaces which display just some harmless wispy marks and hairlines consistent with inner-sleeve removal & careful play. However, there are certainly no heavy marks or anything I would call a scratch. Close examination directly beneath halogen desk lamp reveals a sparkling rainbow shine but no further marks or wear to either side.

Play: EXCELLENT +

This great sounding copy has received some very careful play on top-quality equipment and my careful playcheck could find no evidence of any groove/play wear whatsoever. The entire disc is also free from any background noise, clicks, pops or other such audible distraction.

Cover

EXCELLENT -

A very strong & clean example of this striking cover. The delicate front leaf is clean & bright with just a touch of wear to the edges but no tears to any part. The rear panel has some minor age toning but again, is free from any major signs of wear. Inside is clean & unblemished with many fascinating pictures of the group inside the recording studio. All seams adn the delicate centre hinge are fully intact & undamaged and the spine is completely square, uncrushed and is fully worded.

Inner-sleeve

EXCELLENT

Clean & flat with some light storage creasing to the lower left corner, but no writing, tears or splits.

• Strict & grading under strong daylight & directly beneath a halogen desk lamp to UK 'RECORD COLLECTOR' standards.
• I carefully play every record I sell on an EMT 950 transcription turntable at volume and list all visual and audible faults.
• All the photos in this listing have been taken by myself and are of the actual items for sale.
• All records are professionally & securely in custom-made record mailing boxes with the disc removed from the cover.
