John Lennon and Yoko Ono John & Yoko / Plastic Ono Band, With Elephant's Memory, Plus Invisible Strings "Sometime In New York City" original Canadian 33 1/3 rpm long-playing (LP) two phonograph record set, Capitol Records SVBB-3392, with gatefold album cover. This stereo double record album is still sealed in it's original shrink wrap. The first disc in this two-record set is a studio recording, with the song titles and lyrics strategically listed all around the album cover. The second record is a "Live Jam" of six live recordings, including a killer version of "Cold Turkey". The unique album cover is made to resemble the front page of a controversial newspaper. The cover begins with the title "Some Time In New York City", with "There Are No Birds In Viet Nam" in very small text printed underneath, and then lists "John & Yoko / Plastic Ono Band, With Elephant's Memory, Plus Invisible Strings", above a great photo of the eight-member group (John is in the center, singing at a standup microphone, playing guitar), and the titles and the song lyrics to "Sisters, O Sisters" (the "B" side of Apple 1848), "Angela", and "Woman is the Nigger of the World" (the "A" side of Apple 1848). Although these three songs were written and performed to promote women's rights, "Angela" (a song about civil rights activist Angela Davis), and "Woman is the Nigger of the World" (a song about women's suffering), were met with mixed reaction in the USA. A super photo of John and Yoko (used on the front of the picture sleeve to the 45 rpm single Apple 1848) is above the latter song title. A fabulous photo of a nude President Richard Nixon dancing with a nude Chairman Mao Tse-tung, is above the title and the song lyrics to "We're All Water". At the very top is a black square with the Apple logo inside, and inside that, a cool photo of legendary record producer Phil Spector wearing dark glasses, with "To Know Him Is To Love Him" (his 1958 Number One hit record for three consecutive weeks) in very small text printed underneath, and "Ono News That's Fit to Print" in slightly larger text below that. The back of the album cover contains a photograph of seven mourners carrying white crosses, above the title and the song lyrics to "The Luck Of The Irish", a photograph of the band performing live on stage, above the title and the song lyrics to "Attica State", a photograph of John and Yoko performing live on stage, the titles and the song lyrics to "John Sinclair" and "Born In Prison", a small photo of a house in New York City, and a photo of British troops fighting in Ireland, with the title and the song lyrics to "Sunday Bloody Sunday" below it. This radical release is a revolutionary's dream. "Sometime In New York City" was originally released on Apple Records in Canada, in 1972; this is a 1976 issue. All of the songs were written by John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The record was produced by John & Yoko. This two record set is still sealed in it's original shrink wrap, has never been played, and is in mint condition. The gatefold album cover is in near mint to mint condition. This is the nicest copy of this record that you could find.
