John Lennon Two Virgins original UK MONO super rare

I am certain that most of us that collect records have a few put aside that we think we shall never part with.  This is one such disc. 

Released on November 29th 1968 and even rarer than the Black and Gold label Stereo copies of Please Please Me, I am proud to offer for sale a copy of the MONO release of John Lennon's first solo LP, Two Virgins Unfinished Music No. 1.

I doubt that there is anyone that does not know of this infamous LP which sold so poorly upon its (eventual) release that it became the first Beatles associated album to be deleted.  Many record collectors were not even aware that a MONO version of this LP even existed.  Approximately 5,000 STEREO copies were available in record shops but to obtain a MONO copy, you had to write to the distributor (Tracks) to request one as they were not freely available for sale in record shops.  It is estimated that literally only a few hundred MONO LP's were pressed and this is one of those.

This LP is in excellent condition.  I am not a dealer, I am a collector and I purchased this disc in 1978 from a long gone record collectors shop in Edmonton, North London and played it only once. Lennon was still a house husband, rumours of Beatles reunions were rife and the world was (possibly) a better place!  This record became the jewel in my 'rare record box'. 

This copy of Two Virgins has a very light mark on Side 1 measuring just over one inch.  I am not able to test play this LP but I sincerely doubt that it would have any adverse effect on the sound quality.  The sheen on this record is amazing, indicating that it obviously received virtually no play whatsoever.  Despite evidence of light handling, some dealers might very well say that this was near Mint.  However, I  think that 'excellent' does this justice and is a fair grading.

The labels are the usual gorgeous dark green Apple.  There is a small curly mark on the Side 1 label, approx half an inch, which runs through "side 1" and "UK". I have taken photographs as best as I can but as you can see, the surface of the record is extremely shiny.  This disc obviously had very very little use.

The sleeve is also the correct MONO sleeve with the printing is on the front of the sleeve as opposed to the STEREO sleeve which had the printing on the rear. The sleeve is in very good condition with slight yellowing and inevitable creasing.  It is one of the best that I have ever seen.

Please remember that despite a copy selling on eBay recently, MONO copies of this album are immensely rare and it could be many years before another comes along.

Postage: It is never my intention to make extra money out of postage but postage costs also include the price of jiffy bags, cardboard tubes etc.

All items are sent well packaged and I send all UK items via recorded delivery and this is included in my postage costs. The cost to send items via insured/signed for Airmail varies according to the value of the item. If you live overseas I will quote you for both standard airmail and insured Airmail. If any item is lost and has not been sent recorded delivery I cannot be held responsible!
