Description

John Lennon “Rock’n’Roll” Apple Test Pressing 33 1/3 12 inch LP 1975

This is a test pressing of John’s classic album of early rock’n’roll favorites recorded in 1973-74 with input from producer Phil Spector and released in 1975.

The cover is plain white with black marker on the front identifying the album as Apple SK 3419. It’s not known if this was written by the receiving radio station or the label’s promotion department. The other side of the cover is stamped 1336. There are no seam splits, tears or folds.

The vinyl is is M- condition and it has also been cleaned in an ultrasonic record cleaner. And yes, the disc was played to make sure the contents were as they were supposed to be. The labels are white and only marked with an EMI stamp and license for use.

The cue sheet is a mimeograph copy (which still has the familiar smell that those of us who use them in the 1970s will recall!)

Provenance: This copy originally belonged to Massachusetts and Rhode Island disc jockey Ken Rapoza who worked at several stations including WEEI in Boston. Ken died in an accident in 1987 at age 38 and his collection was inherited by a friend and fellow disc jockey, Bill Clark. This album remained unplayed in his own collection until his death in 2024.

It is being sold for Bill’s widow who will receive all of the money from its sale.
