I recently acquired a nice little collection of over one hundred Rhythm and Blues 45s that had belonged to a British collector who lived in the USA. It includes Bo Diddley on Checker; Chuck Berry on Chess; Little Richard on Specialty; artists like Little Walter, Howlin’ Wolf, Lightnin’ Hopkins; and records on labels like Excello, 4 Brothers, Jewel etc.
For sale here is the mighty John Lee Hooker. This is A New Leaf / She’s Mine on Vee-Jay VJ 453. It’s a promotional copy.
The vinyl has just some very light hairlines and very light scuffs (to be expected from a record that's over 50 years old) but nothing serious at all; it still retains a good overall sheen. It plays well, with just some light background crackle but no skips, no jumps, no sticking etc. I'm listening to it now and it's absolutely fine. It goes without saying that the music is awesome...
