Description
Up for grabs, the impossible to find demo tape of John K. Samson : Slips and Tangles. John is of course known for his contributions of anarchist punks heroes Propagandhi and indie rock giants the Weakerthans. The recordings found on this tape date to 1992-1993, when Propagandhi recorded their incredible debut album How to Clean Everything. The second song on the record is called Greenest Eyes, a song later transformed into Showdown (G.E./P), one of the most memorable songs of Propagandhi's early career. Samson later reworked some of the songs with his band The Weakerthans but the whole cassette tape remains unreleased.
Here's the track list:
- "Slips and Tangles"
- "Greenest Eyes"
- "Airport Lounge"
- "Unearthly Refrain"
- "Happy Song"
- "Sunday Afternoon"
- "Summer Rain"
- "Farewell Faded Memory"
- "Velveteen"
- "Maryland Bridge"
- "Sympathetic Smile"
- "Saint Cecilia"
- "Little Pictures"
- "A Story You Have Heard Before"
- "Agonistes"
The tape itself is in excellent condition, just listened to it for the first time in many years and I'm surprised how good it sounds. No distortion at all and the sound never cuts or changes like old tapes do with age. Insert is also in wonderful shape.
