Description

For sale is a very hard to find mono version of John Coltrane's "Ascension". This was released on Impulse! Records in 1965 as A-95 and does have the Van Gelder stamp. This release does have the black and orange labels, and is the first pressing to include the second take of the title piece (which is referred to as Edition 1 per Discogs). The record is in very good shape but does have some surface marks that do not effect the play. I played each side last night; it didn't skip and sounded very nice. It doesn't seem to have worn out grooves.. it really doesn't seem like it has been played very much at all, as the marks look more like they come from shelf wear. The jacket is in very good shape as well, but does show some wear as you can see from the pictures (some slight discoloration on the top back side of the jacket).
