This is an auction of a John Coltrane - Ascension - ORIGINAL 1ST PRESS MONO A-95. With ARCHIE SHEPP FREDIE HUBBARD ELVIN JONES - Engineered by RUDY VAN GELDER with "VAN GELDER" STAMPED in the deadwax trailfoff.
Record is visually graded as VG+ with some light hairlines and a small scuff, cover is VG++ with slight wear and light foxing inside the gatefold.

Bidders please note - in the trailoff deadwax of this LP is "edition II" not "edition I". Edition II is the first take, which was preferred by Coltrane, who had the record companyreplace the Edition I masters (second take) which I believe was released in fewer numbers and only used for the first few months. Still - MONO edition II records are rare enoughin most places...
