Description
On offer here is a first pressing copy of Stormbringer by John and Beverley Martyn, released on the Pink Island label in 1970, catalogue number ILPS 9113.
John and Beverly Martyn only released two albums together, of which this was the first.
The musicians include Paul Harris and Levon Helm. The album was engineered by John Wood and produced by Joe Boyd for Witchseason Productions.
The single unlaminated sleeve made by E J Day is in Excellent condition ( and arguably better) only some slight points of rubbing on the spine, the bottom edge and on the front cover preventing a higher grading (see photos). All the text is completely readable on the spine. Overall this is a very fragile sleeve and is in remarkable condition for a 45 year old album.
The vinyl is in Excellent Plus Plus condition, with no marks or blemishes. Having played this all the way through on my high end system ( Michell Gyrodek with SME Series 5 arm with Dynavertor cartridge, Naim Pre and Twin Mono power amps and B & W Nautilus speakers) I can confirm that the sound is very clean with fantastic clarity.
Rated Excellent ++ audio.
The matrix numbers are ILPS 9113 A//1 1 1 1 and B//1 1 1 1
The labels are clean and fresh with no marks, rated Excellent Plus.
There is also the original polylined inner bag, with the correct date on the front 1 / 0170.
This is a rare album which is hard enough to find in any sort of condition, and very rare indeed in this great condition, and is highly recommended.
