Description
Here's an exceptional 12"-vinyl copy of Joe Satriani's self-financed 1984 debut EP, which is titled simply "Joe Satriani" in bold black letters on a white background. This is a first-pressing that Joe himself gave to me soon after it came out. Side one contains "Talk to Me" and "Dreaming Number Eleven," while side two contains "Banana Mango," I Am Become Death," and "Saying Good-Bye." Beneath the song tracking on the back cover, it says "Written, produced and performed by Joe Satriani," and "Every sound on this record was made on an electric guitar with the exception of the 'killer bee' vocals in 'I Am Become Death.'" For the few people who actually received copies of this EP, this was hard to believe, given the sound effects on "Talk to Me" and the popping bass in "Dreaming Number Eleven." The material on this album predates any of Joe's recordings on the Relativity label, as he financed the project on a credit card while he was still a guitar teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Please note: Due to the size of my scanner, I was only able to capture about two-thirds of the cover in the scan shown below. The album is pristine condition. It is still in its original shrinkwrap. It has been opened, but the album itself appears to be unplayed.
