Description

Opportunity to purchase this Joe Pass and Tommy Gumina Trio -Sound Project, album.  This is a Classic Jazz collector’s item by the Polytone Productions label; Produced in1987 by Tommy Gumina and Joe Pass.

The album was purchased by the seller in the 1980’s, is considered to be in mint condition and is sealed in its original cellophane. Cellophane cover is in excellent condition with some stretch marks on the edges and the back side.  The seam is also sealed but a little wrinkled due to storage and aging.

The pictures will show some distortion or blur due to lighting and background reflections from the black album cover.  However the cellophane cover/sleeve is in excellent condition. It has been stored in an up right position with other albums in a smoke free environment.

The back cover includes the brief story line for this album written by Joe Bass and Tommy Gumina.  Some of the quotes include:

Joe: “Today I think most young players are aware of the changes taking place and try to use the technology.  So you have the guitar sounds ranging from Pat Metheny to Benson, Klugh, Carlton and Heavy Metal.”

“Finally, as I said in the beginning, Tommy and I are friends.  In one evening, we fought and argued until we finished the album and went home. I think the music speaks for itself and needs not to be explained piece by piece…Hope you like it.”

Tommy: “In the album, we utilized polytonal voicing (chord against chord, key against key. By using the guitar as a voice or horn plus the Polycorus we were able to achieve, in my opinion, the bigness in sound for this project. Also, Polytone amplification, was used in a bi-amp mode (first developed by Polytone in 1969)utilizing the various harmonic frequencies to create the huge sound for this album.  As Joe said, there is absolutely no overdubbing, no tricks.  The left hand base and right hand keyboard or the Polycorus were played simultaneously.”
